They're just as cult as Fight Club.
Japanese kids? So you're saying it's a kid's movie? Sorry. Inadequate.
Sack up
Requiem for a Dream? Ughhhhhhghghghg. This feature is rapidly becoming a mirror image of every 18 year old budding hipster's favorite movie list (OMG DONNIE DARKO FIGHT CLUB REQUIEM FOR A DREAM WHAT'S NEXT MEMENTO?!?!?)
That guy with the goggles
Is that Chris Sabo?
Three Burials is the best Arriaga movie by far.

There Will Be Blood
tooo sweeet
Sometimes hype is warranted. Case in point: Eternal Sunshine. Very good movie. Visually stunning. Great script. Worth all the praise.
Yea dude. I first read The Great Gatsby in high school. Didn't really get it. I read it again in college. Didn't really get. I read it again after college. HOLY SHIT IT'S GOOD. I just didn't understand it when I was younger because I hadn't lived enough. Now that I'm older it all makes sense to me.
And when I say Gladiator is a re-hash of Gladiator, I'm of course talking about the movie where Mel Gibson plays a Gladiator in Scotland.
Idiocracy is a few clever ideas loosely packed into a really shitty sausage. The premise is promising. The movie? Not so good.
Fuckin' a man, AV Club really needs to add a post edit feature or something.
Maybe I need to watch Brick again. I've only seen it once. I thought it was reasonable entertaining. I'm confused by the huge outpouring of fanboy love for that flick though.
Y'all done forgot me
Finally some love for The Aviator. It might not be a very accurate portrayal of Mr. Hughes, but it's a damn good movie. No worse than Raging Bull (which is hugely overrated, plotless, and pointless).
Meh.
Not a fan of this list. Too much love for massively overhyped artsy turds like Mulholland Drive, There Will Be Blood, and Memento. I've seen most of the movies on this list and most of them weren't that spectacular. Grizzly Man? Come on now. It's mildly interesting. Nothing more. If you want to go with a "tragic…
Late to this party
Good call on Bale in American Psycho. I also liked him in Harsh Times even though it may or may not have been a ridiculous pile of feces. He plays a good raging maniac, which is apparently not a major deviation from his actual persona.
WTF is going on with that Demi Moore plot thread in Mr. Brooks?
I agree with the "PT is overrated and pretentious crowd." I like Boogie Nights. A lot. It's got great style and characters. It's funny as hell. I think it's his best film by a wide margin. Everything else is sorta meh. Seems like he's trying way too hard to be profound. I would love to see him work from a real script…
Ohhh boyyyy
It sure is fun to point a camera and capture failure. This movie shares themes with some of my other favorite documentaries like American Movie and Confessions of a Superhero. Everyone is looking for a way to escape mediocrity, but most are ill-equipped to do so. C'este la vie.
