I was 14ish around the time Cobain died and the Foos came out.  I loved Nirvana and immediately thought the Foo Fighters were kind of bland and generic.  (Even though I probably wouldn't have expressed it that way then.)  My point is: maybe you didn't like the Foos because they WEREN'T dishing out a sonic bludgeoning.

I know I shouldn't really let myself be baited here but in case you are serious.  I completely disagree on the first two.  Dave Grohl's songs aren't catchier, though they may be "catchier."  I also think Cobain had a better voice.  Similar range but just way more interesting.

Not a huge fan of the Foo Fighters and this article sums it perfectly.  Serviceable but extremely bland.  Too many of their songs are built on ham-fisted "rock riffs" that bore me to tears.  (Structurally, not too much different than what Nirvana did a lot of the time but Cobain just had a better ear for these

Exactly the same reaction.  Walt is indisputably a piece of shit at this point but it was impossible for me not to cheer at the purest distillation of Heisenberg's bad-assery yet.  (Even if it enraged my girlfriend, who was sitting next to me.)

That paragraph really made my morning.  I could not stop laughing.

I love hearing Ira Glass say "fuck."

Road Runner was always by far my favorite part of Looney Tunes.  I looked forward to the shit out of that. Still, maybe this is a rental?

I mean, listen, I think there are some good track son R U Still Down.  It just too easy to take hip hop vocals and match them up bpm-wise to infinite beats that in general the posthumous hip hop album just kind of rubs me the wrong way.

Ingoring his posthumous albums, which I don't think should be dignified, I think that there was a huge dip in quality of 2Pac's output right around the time that he signed to Death Row.

Are we far enough away from this that anyone who gave Avatar a good review can now admit it's very bad??
