At least we still have the Funk Doc Spock
At least we still have the Funk Doc Spock
Question about this podcast: Is there an ongoing narrative arc? Characters? Things like that? I'm not being flippant, I'm actually curious. I listened to the the first couple of episodes and it seemed pretty clever but a somewhat disconnected series of supernatural observations, weird happenings, etc. I'm just…
it's good good
Absolutely fucking love this movie. Top three favorite time travel flicks. Funny the parallel you draw with the unfaithful guy uncovering his tracks. Never thought about it but it kind of makes sense.
she doesn't look that old….she looks like she could be 32, which is how old i think she is. there is also that thing on the internet where they purposefully choose the most unflattering pics. (even the AV club apparently) why am i coming to her defense? i have no fucking clue.
i've always kind of felt that this (while definitely derivative) is the one of the only good lenny kravitz song. if you wanna talk about some shit, see "fly away" where he rhymes fly, sky and then fly again against pure butt rock guitars.
great write-up…one of the better 'watch this' features.
I liked them. But they were definitely more in the vein of (from what i remember) the new jack swing type of production which was more prevalent in the late 80s. kriss kross came out more around the time gangsta rap was getting big so they more aped that "harder style" at least production wise. but uh yeah, i was…
I gotta say: Totally Krossed Out was my JAM back in the day at 11 or 12 years old. Sure, it was a total novelty but especially compared to novelty kiddy rap released subsequently, that shit was legit. I don't really remember the rest of the album very well but the singles at least were great.
if brad pitt had done the voice of the goat and they played it as a commercial (or a bit at the oscars, or whatever) people would not say that it's sexist. they would all praise him for being edgy and cute.
michael bay is really good at getting famous republicans to be in his movies
I moved past the grief stage of the death of the AV club and have reached Acceptance. I will now treat it like the eulogy at a funeral. AV club had a really great run. I would say it really hit its peak between 2007 - 2011ish or so. Some of my favorites: Popless, MYOF, Whatever Happened to Alternative Nation. I'll…
I've noted the changes that have happened over the past several months (sponsored posts, the addition of "Watch this" and "Hear this" etc) but while I'm not a huge fan, they don't seem to be significant enough to have this many writers jump ship.
Black and Blue (hips from slipping and falling down the staircase)
Cameo level. As soon as I read this headline, I knew they were never going to let two old, decrepit wrinkly actors try to carry a movie. At the very least, they'd have to bring in Chevy Chase's son and hot bride to be for some vacation hijinks. It wouldn't hit enough quadrants otherwise.
Basically, what @avclub-f73c955e2c1f51451a682f5c1ce0e867:disqus said. I'm not complaining about mentioning previous albums - more hacky and predictable music journalism.
Reading reviews of this album is annoying. It seems impossible for critics to review their music without writing an entire history of their relationship to the Strokes but more annoyingly, where they're supposed to fit into in larger context of pop culture.

March 14, 2013: The day the AV Club went completely Up It's Own Ass. (And that's Okay!)
why are we taking this seriously?
