well, maybe i'm just forgetting something but i think that if walt had killed him, that would've arguably been the first time that walt ordered the murder of someone in that cold of blood.  everything else (even poisoning brock) related directly to keep himself alive.  maybe he just wasn't ready to take that step - or…

Oh yeah, totally.  There are very few cases where I liked the final versions less.  I did like the demo version of "And Your Bird can Sing" better, without George Harrison's riff at the beginning.
