Made me laugh every time.

Holy CRAP! Same. I had no idea from where though.

I don't think the show has explicitly mentioned how long each posting is, but in the book it was 3 years, and it seems like they're sticking to a similar length in the show.
Just going by how long June's hair is when she's bathing (and, uh, 'visiting' Nick) vs what it looked like when she and Hannah are fleeing

Yeah, that was sort of the sense that I got. Clearly Luke and Erin (?) still enjoy some luxuries (coffee, cell phones) even though they're in the middle of a power shortage/outage.

Agree so much with this review. It was a good episode, not a great one, and I found myself wanting them to just GET ON with Luke crossing the border to Canada already. I wanted to know more about the world of Little America. More about the heartbreaking hallway strewn with missing person posters. It kinda drove me

I don't know for sure, but I thought Econowives were just lower-social-class already-married women, and their household just wasn't high status enough to be assigned Handmaids or Marthas so they had to do it all themselves. If they're randomly assigned too, then yeah, hell no. I wouldn't want that for myself.

I'm curious about whether the show is going to delve into Econowives at all. They only briefly touch on them in the book so it's hard to know what life is like for them, but I've always felt like it might be nice in a weird way. Since you have to fulfill all the "roles", there's more variety to your life, and as an

When June/Emily were watching them dismantling the church, she said something about it being where her father went, and how her daughter was baptized there.

Oh good call… that didn't come across to me when I watched, but that might be the case.

I really enjoyed this episode, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on what fell flat for you.

Believe me, I know. Despite what my avatar suggests, I'm female, and I deal with that shit on the regular.

I was trying to figure out what was going through SJ's mind when she was sneaking peeks at Offred and Nick having sex. How did y'all read that part? Her face seemed like a real mix of curiosity, hope, maybe even a little jealousy…?

Also: Offred/June betraying Serena Joy by having sex with Nick privately

Oh man, the commander is such a knob. The way he looked at Offred after he gave her that magazine, getting off on his own "kindness" and power. So gross.

Oh MAN, I forgot about that show. Somehow my brain melded it together with Date My Mom into one single entity.

You stupid monkey!

Yes! Totally! She has so much — and yet, she doesn't have the one thing that's valued over everything else by Gileadian society, and that drives her nuts. Even moreso since as you said, she theoretically could actually be fertile if Fred is sterile.

The de-aging also sets up a much more interesting dynamic between Serena Joy and Offred. They're similar ages but in completely disparate social classes, and yet Serena Joy resents Offred SO much. That resentment was there in the book too, but having it come from a woman of childbearing age who's (allegedly)

I am dying for them to reveal Serena Joy's backstory and I really hope it's something along those lines. I know in the book she was a televangelist and singer, but I think it would be a lot more current/relevant to shift her to a conservative talking head.

Sure thing! That's really funny — I've ALSO held off on listening to My Favorite Murder for the same reason.
