I really enjoyed the pilot and am looking forward to the rest of the season.

I feel Bravo should rastify Tom Colicchio by 10% or so.

Maybe Sonia's had enough of our shit.

New Year's Day *is* kind of a weird time to air a new episode, especially after taking a hiatus on Christmas, but I'm honestly pretty bummed AV Club dropped the ball on reviewing this one. I always look forward to some good Top Chef discussion, and I have the day off work, so what am I supposed to do instead now? Go

I assumed Billy was referring to the talking head sound editing, which probably is lav-mic'd.

Sorry, the "you" in my comment wasn't directed at you specifically. I was using the royal you, as it were.

Honestly, if after watching Mad Men your only thought in regard to its treatment of women is "wow, we've come a long way since then," you're deluding yourself. I work in a male-dominated field and some of the workplace gender dynamics in the show are very familiar to me.

The one-way mirror room *is* creepy, but it's pretty standard practice for focus testing, even today.

That doesn't bother me, really. I'm not one for neatly wrapped up storylines. Though as I said, the shot of the car on the dam would have been an especially wrenching, frustrating way to end the season.

So for some reason I thought this was the season finale until I saw the preview for next week's. It would have been wayyyy too anxiety-inducing to have the show cliffhangered on that final shot of the car sitting there on the dam. Not that I think next week will totally wrap things up, but still.

Ha, so, I just rewatched, and it was actually Emeril saying "this is so
South Louisiana," but he mumbled the line so the first time around I
thought he was saying it was so salty.

I'd make my mom's pot roast and spaetzle dumplings. It's a magical meal.

Don't forget Brooke last season. She was a bundle of nerves until halfway through and then she just started killing it.

Didn't they say something about Justin's dish being a little too salty? It was only mentioned once, and I could have misheard it.

Imaginary Virginia was way too close to "Ghost Harry" on Dexter for my liking.

Yeah what the heck?

His "my boss told me I should focus more, I'm not sure how to take that" absolutely slayed Mr. Mofo.
