Can we commiserate right now about how annoying it is to always have to carry an epipen?  I'm allergic to peanuts and tree nuts, and sooo envious of people who can go out without a purse.  I've tried various solutions to the "carrying a large auto-injecting needle everywhere" problem over the years, and haven't found

Mission Log - Probably only enjoyable if you are a Trekkie, but I've really been liking it.

I will go on the record right now saying that I think pretty much all of the previous Star Trek movies were bad.  Some were better than others, yes, but I don't think I truly enjoyed any of them from start to finish.  The one exception I'll make to that is Abrams' 2009 Trek movie, not because it was a great movie, but

I don't understand what circumstances could possibly exist that would lead to a person doing that.  Did she misunderstand the joke about having cancer if your hand is the size of your face?

Hand on cheek for my friend and I.

Has this feature been done before?  I'd love to see it continued, but haven't read a single one of these books, so I can't really contribute to the discussion at all.

Happy birthday!

Yeah, from what I've been able to read between the lines on the topic of self-publishing, it seems like you need to have some existing fan base to get things off the ground.

I loooved The Magus, but haven't seen Lost, so I have no opinion on that front.  What it did remind me of was Peter Straub's Shadowland.

So far I've only read Austen's Persuasion, and if I recall correctly, that has some parts set in Bath.  (Also, I enjoyed the book quite a bit.)

Aw, thanks!

I frequently work out of town, which makes it nearly impossible to sign up for anything.  I envy your opportunity to do so!

I hate hate hate hate running, so I'm planning to substitute swimming instead.  When I was unemployed a few years ago, I did a sort of "couch to 1 mile" program in the pool with some success.  I just need to get back into it, but have too many excuses not to right now.

Yeah, that's why I'm planning to go slow and intersperse other books.

Yeah, I don't think "Bronte-appreciator" really comes through in my selections above, but I read a strange mix of genres that includes classics for sure.  I'm excited about House of Mirth, just extremely lazy when it comes to going to the library for whatever reason.

I started Villette a looong time ago and never finished it.  I've always wanted to get back to it, it's just never at the top of my list for whatever reason.

Real life dating tangent: asked my sister's boyfriend for the number of his cute friend that I met a couple of Saturdays ago, and was encouraged to follow up by various TI commenters.  He's seeing someone, alas.

I do construction project management stuff.. for now.

Ballet class three of six coming up this week!  I'm stupidly excited.

Rapture of the Nerds by Charles Stross and Cory Doctorow
Not bad, but not super great, which is actually kind of what I expected.  I'm a huge fan of Charles Stross's blog (another rare place where I read the comments) but haven't actually read much of his fiction besides parts of Accelerando that were published in
