I ordered like six shirts from Threadless on Monday.  I hope they fit!

I wish I had never heard someone seriously say "If we evolved from monkeys, then why are there still monkeys?!", but alas I have.

I mentioned last week that I deleted/closed my online dating accounts to take care of my own craziness for a little while, but I can't believe I forgot to mention another thing that happened before I did:

From what I can tell as the unintentional anti-Hat gimmick, your "style" is basically just being personable and concerned about everybody.  (I mean this in a good way.)

I am taking a ten day road trip from the Great Canadian Gap to southern British Columbia and back.  I'm going by myself because I am single and hate everybody right now, and I'm going to drive slowly, stay in semi-nice hotels, read books, and visit relatives.  I've never driven in the mountains before, so I'm slightly

Sorry to hear about your job.  Multiple projects at once for a new hire sounds like kind of a dick move on their part.

That's what I always wonder about flavoured vodkas: what are people drinking this stuff with?  I mean I guess they could be drinking it straight, or … watering it?!?

The thing I found worked with the kind of jet lag where you've gone forward in time is to not sleep for like 36+ hours, and then have a normal sleep.  There seems to be an internal clock reset in there somewhere.

Wait, pre-cooked toast?

No one should quote me on this, but I believe the animation is some sort of proto-anime.  Quick google says it was a Japanese studio working with Rankin-Bass.

Ok, so I was at the bookstore on Saturday, and is it just me or are paperbacks getting enormous?  I'm used to all the books in the sf/f section being the standard 4x7 or whatever size books actually are, but it seemed like everything was a much larger trade size, even old stuff like the ASOIAF books, and new editions

So jealous that you're getting to see Rome for the first time.  It's one of my favourite shows and I really need to rewatch it sometime soon.

Agreed re: reading a synopsis first for all of those art forms.  Although I've only seen two operas so far and they seem to have needlessly convoluted and/or pointless plots that are hard to follow even if you have read the synopsis.

That's horrific.

One of my favourite things about Moon was that the robot that was obviously going to turn out to be evil ended up not being evil at all.

For he goes birling down-a-down the white water

This reminds of the conversation I had with someone who claimed Shakespeare was "Old English."

I read what I now realize was an abridged version, and loved it.  So that's good enough for me.

The last year I did ballet in high school we danced to the theme from Legends of the Fall and I still haven't seen the movie, nor do I know what it's about.  Is Brad Pitt in it, or am I thinking of something else?

Yeah, I finally watched this thing all the way through a few months ago, and I never want to listen to that theme again.
