This. Fuck. All of this.
This. Fuck. All of this.
I'm reading it now. Interesting to know Reckoning War will never come.
Credit to Marvel too for really giving its female characters a push with All-New Marvel Now. Elektra, Black Widow, She-Hulk, Polaris leading X-Factor.
When
I've said this before: not a big fan of a jokey Punisher. The humor in the first issue wasn't flat-out jokey, so I was cool with it. I just hope we get more "grim, determined, obsessive Frank" and not "sense of humor Frank."
If that made no sense, guys, sorry. I'm 1) the only one in my office, 2) fighting my way through a headcold. So things are getting a little bit feral in ol' TDDW-land.
Let's frame the second part of this comment, shall we?
After about 6 months on Comixology, Marvel will usually discount their issues from 3.99 to 1.99, which is the ideal "What the fuck? Why not try it?" price for me. DC's 3.99 comics drop to 2.99 after 2 months in release and then never get cheaper.
Yeah, the nature of his sense of humor made it ok.
Tell me more, please.
I really did not like the first two issues. Found them to be insultingly stupid with little to no consequence entailed in BW's exploits. Also, the talking-to-the-cat gimmick is just lame as shit. I'm surprised to see this is the same Edmondson who gave us Punisher this week.
Yeah, the idea of Superman in armor is something I still cannot accept.
Agree on your understanding of Punisher. Disagree about whether Edmondson transgressed on that. As I said, there's no worse Punisher than a Punisher with a sense of humor. The handful of jokes he cracked here and his flirting with the female policewoman were heading in the wrong direction, but there was so much other…
Yeah, I gave up on X-Men after that rushed, horrible climax to the first arc. Also, the fact that Kitty is out of the cast removes one of my primary reasons for reading.
That sure is the opposite of "No Spoilers."
It focuses on the characters hunting him so much that he's almost treated like a force of nature. And since they're just being introduced in the first issue, it's pretty continuity-free.
I recommend that anyone with eyes and access read Rucka's Punisher. Phenomenal stuff that really got into how criminals perceive Punisher and what makes him tick. When I asked Rucka about his run at a convention before it began, he said he wanted to address why—after Punisher kills a bunch of people—Thor doesn't just…
Yeah, I read the Earth 2 trade a few months back. It seems like a lot of good ideas and reimaginings with fairly standard execution. I'm sure it's refreshing to have a book without Superman, Batman, or Wonder Woman, but that's not enough to keep me interested in a book. People do LOVE that title, though.
Also, did anyone read the first letter in Lazarus this week? Rucka tells a reader complaining about the tone and the pacing the book isn't for him and that he should read something else. I quite appreciate the refreshing honesty!
Yeah, dude, that's another reason besides crossovers to be hesitant about the Pak/Kuder run. I've heard Kuder's art is incredible, though.
