One thing that struck me about this episode is how well they aped the atmosphere of "serious" cop shows. The lighting and the "dark and gritty and noirish" atmosphere for Loose Cannon Renegade Cop Tribeca was perfect—they made the setting so classically serious so that the dumb/wacky shit that happens in that setting

Russ & Rebecca

Zach Woods is the secret MVP of the show. Everything he says and does is hilarious.

X-Clan and The Beatnuts are basically polar opposites on the conscious rap vs. ignorant rap spectrum, but they're both so fucking dope. I sure as hell wouldn't have minded hearing Brother J rap over some Beatnuts beats back in the day, and I bet Psycho Les and Juju would've taken X-Clan's tracks from serious to

X-Clan made such good records, and Brother J was phenomenal on the mic. I still play the hell out of those first two albums. Also great on the mic: MC Serch. When he was in the zone, he could really rip it up.

This is good shit. A few things, in no particular order:

Z's by far the best at actually rocking a party.

Scratchcratchratchatch is goddamn genius. As is Kid Koala, who is always on some entirely different shit from everybody else. Love that guy's stuff.

Q-Bert's the best scratcher in the world, if by "turntablism" you mean "scratching" (as most people do). Q's the shit, and his skill is mind-blowing, but even as a scratch nerd, I can't stand to listen to him for more than 10-15 minutes.

It seemed like it had potential, but I guess that potential was squandered. I'll confirm that for myself when it comes to Netflix and I'm home sick one day and scrolling through movies in hopes of finding something to take my mind off feeling miserable and see this one and think, "Oh, that shark movie with Blake

Oooh, she's good!

Damn, nice catch.

They listen to the RAP MUSIC, which gives them the BRAIN DAMAGE!

Seems like a perfect opportunity to take Dan Savage's advice and pretend the toilet is a person to whom you're giving a golden shower and talk dirty to it. "Oh yeah…take my hot piss."

It's kind of amazing how quickly this show found its footing and how good it's gotten because of that.

Especially as she was making pasta.

Elaine: So, you think that Puddy actually believes in something?

$37.50 for a Three Musketeers

It's a peach!

Say what now?
