Even Batman Eternal and Batman & Robin Eternal were really interesting experiments that ultimately didn't do much to move the needle, but were fun and mostly well done. I appreciate it when people can tell self contained stories like that. It's part of why I thought Convergence was such an interesting idea: two

I think the overall dislike for New52 is part of why that WW run (and to a lesser extent Snyder's Batman) is generally forgotten/ignored. There's a lot of SUPER interesting stuff that DC did with New52 and DCYou that everyone was gleefully shitting all over just because it was DC and they hated the idea of things

Faith is 100% traditional superhero story but very positive and basically no continuity issues to be concerned about. Maybe take a look at Comixocity? Valiant isn't exactly a small publisher, I'd be surprised if there's no books from them in an LCS.

It's been years and years since I read it, but he was much closer to "the great uncle you hate seeing on Thanksgiving" and a lot less "poor sickly kid from Brooklyn who barely survived the Depression and would be pissed at anti-vaxxers."

Eh, I knew what you were shooting for. :D

It's in my "consider buying him for Christmas" list for sure. Your vote in its favor pushed it up to the top.

Ultimates isn't a great place to start for a lot of fans in my opinion. A lot of the characters are the "turned up to 11" version of themselves (hi, racist geriatric Cap).

Don't limit yourself to Marvel and DC! I think she'd probably like Faith a lot, maybe Archer and Armstrong? Give her one-shot books, too…like all the Bat-fam Year One stuff.

Baby steps. The fact that he's reading something that isn't Sgt Rock is a miracle. I got him started on Citizen Jack last year, we'll get to Flinstones by the time it's in trade.

*casually shoves money across the table*

Depends on the writer/origin story but one of the more popular versions is that she came in contact with the World of Man during World War II and adopted the American flag when she decided to fight against the Nazis.

It'll be interesting for sure. His specific job and the time he was there means he was pretty…disillusioned about the whole thing to begin with.

Here is a cute, feel good story for y'all since comics have been a garbage fire lately: I lent my dad (a Vietnam vet named John) the first two TPBs of Preacher because after Dillon's death he asked me why I was so sad. He texted me later that night because he was worried he'd mess them up since they're "near mint"

*whispers* I love that you two are friends.

I'm all for mocking the readership, I'm not ok with mocking fangirls in particular and exclusively.

It's also like a hacked off Tommy Patterson, but that's even more unfortunate since Vote Loki is like a hacked off Citizen Jack.

I also feel super conflicted making Loki the center of this story. Yes, there are parallels to Trump, but also Loki is IMMENSELY popular with young women after the MCU and Young Avengers. Sure, I hate how woobified he is, but mocking people for following him treads really closely to mocking fangirls, which is rage

Man, you and I could not disagree more…on basically all of this. Small publishers NEED a pretty high price point to keep in business, even in digital format, and compared to Marvel most of those small publishers are still selling things at a lower price point. I get your reticence to spend money on someone you

It was pretty choppy in terms of locations and I think it's in large part because they wanted to pack in that extra science BS. If they'd cut it and smoothed the other stuff, I bet it would feel just right.

It's 22 pages, which is standard comic length by and large. The previews/ads at the back were an additional 10ish pages, so it's actually longer than your average comic including those. I seriously think the pages with the super science-y BS made it feel too short because they wasted time with the explanation
