He WILL show up on a motorcycle in full leathers with log chain, if asked. He won't set it (or himself) on fire (on purpose) but I know a guy that can do an awesome helmet paintjob.

Protip: prepare your favorite food or adult beverage to be waiting for you when you get home. After the wedding we were too exhausted to do anything, but our favorite beer was in the fridge so we could veg out on the couch and just enjoy the quiet.

…My dad looks like a cross between Sam Elliott and Donald Sutherland, do you think that's close enough?

Any attempt to de-nerd someone just because they're getting married is doomed to fail. I carried a little Iron Patriot LEGO Rhodey as my "something blue" and listened to the Pacific Rim soundtrack on my way to the venue to get psyched up.

(And a preemptive "thank you" to everyone commenting because I will inevitably miss at least one of y'all!)

So we had the venue for 4 hours, and I made a playlist that was just a little longer than that. When we only had 20 minutes left, the first "What's New Pussy Cat" began. Three more followed, then "It's Not Unusual". The folks in the room that knew the joke (mostly my friends) all busted up laughing and started

I took TWO WEEKS off the day job to spend time with family and read/write about comics. I feel like I rewarded myself appropriately. :D

Saaaaammme. Sunday brunch wedding. Best friend officiated, I made a music playlist. Most expensive part was suits for the groom and my dad, but that was 100% because they went to my grandfather's store to get them made, which was more tradition than need.

In the interests of full disclosure: I reviewed Something New for this week because I got married on Sunday and Knisley's book was a HUGE sanity helper.

If you're cool with it, I'll email you some tips/tricks that help me manage my anxiety about my allergies/asthma. No one in my family had asthma so I figured out a lot of this by trial and error, but I'm all for helping out another asthma baby.

I had the same issue with Monstress! It really shouldn't be a monthly title, the pacing is terrible, especially in that first issue. This is why Image needs editors goddammit.

That's fair, she's right that Chicago is more academic than fiction.

I think it's a problem with the pacing, really. BLO is GREAT with graphic novels because you get to sink into the characters slowly all in one book. But with single issues, it's a different creature and even Seconds (which I LOVED) would have lost me with the first 20-30 pages because the main character was not my

If she wants to work in publishing you guys could also take a look at Chicago (I know I'm biased). I have a lot of friends that work professionally in publishing for a variety of companies, and the cost of living here is a lot lower.

I am really not impressed by this "let's mock young women" thing the first two issues leans so heavily on. And I'm getting frustrated with the way BLO is relying on young women to tell his stories, it ends up feeling really exploitative.

I've been trying to nail down how I felt all weekend and you nailed it.

I've always assumed that Baltimore's super strong zine scene helped build a solid base for a booming self-publishing space in the city, but I have nothing to base that on but conjecture and anecdata.

IT'S ALL ABOUT ME AND MY NEEDS.

I'm not just talking about American-made movies, I'm talking about American-repackaged movies. One of the biggest things in the movie making industry is international sales/box office. There's a lot of money to be made off American-friendly Godzilla movies.

Yeah, Oliver did a preview and I did a review.
