I've seen people arguing that he was doing all of it knowingly (as below) but frankly, it felt like an inexpert attempt at best, if that's what he was trying to do. Satire is really fucking difficult and if he was really trying to do something meta like that, he missed the mark for a lot of people by wallowing in

I don't think that McCloud was knowingly exploring anything…or if he was, he did a piss poor job of it. He hasn't (to my knowledge) really spoken to how the main female character is treated int his book (as an object) or the fact that if the main male character in the story had been any race other than white, he would

For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure the other three of us agree with Tim on this book. I bought it and read it. I had emotions, but I was pissed about it because I was being manipulated into having them with very little skill or finesse. I have a lot more (negative) feelings about this book, but I"m not sure it's

Nimona's a graphic novel, so it wouldn't be in this list, but I do agree with your larger over all points. Trust me, it was very difficult to narrow this down to just 20.

Thank you for fighting the good fight on this one. I like Saga but it doesn't need to win anything every single year. That's how we lose out on really great new content finding new readers.

I know you're not alone on that one.

As others have pointed out (repeatedly) Saga has been running for several years, regardless of our personal opinions on the book. It'd be boring to the point of putting my eyes out if we listed the same comics year after year. I much prefer lists that focus on things that are new for the year, or things that have

His ex has been interviewed on the subject, apparently he's still getting commissions and residuals enough to support himself but isn't paying child support. http://www.themarysue.com/n… Honestly that's as much as I know, but apparently Image is hiring him for another project.

Yeah, Upchurch got fired and replaced by Stjepan Šejić and then Tess Fowler. I'm bummed Sejic couldn't stick around longer, I love his art, but Fowler's good too. Like I said, I'm not a fan of the book myself so I would have dropped it without the drama, but I know a lot of people who walked away because of it.

I'm holding out hope for a Zatanna solo title, or for JL: Dark to come back and do something interesting if they're really going to go for a movie. I enjoyed the hell out of the early JL: Dark stuff in the New52, Swamp Thing and Animal Man were both astonishingly well done…and then they all fizzled.

I will say I think it's a better trade/binge read than in installments, but it's goooood.

Well, I guess it's less "drama" and more "beat the crap out of his wife and owes a crapton of child support and is somehow still getting work". But yeah, Rat Queens got a lot of good press until that happened.

I think a lot of people are avoiding talking about it because of the drama surrounding the former artist. I'll admit it's not at all my jam, but other outlets are covering it pretty regularly.

I enjoyed the hell out of Wytches, but I think it might be better as a bing/trade read. The last couple of issues are what really pulls the whole thing together.

Sorry/not sorry. This year was just SO FLUSH WITH GOODNESS.

Trust me, if I could shove Gotham by Midnight into everyone's hands, I would. Super bummed it's over, they could have at least let it wrap up on issue 13.

Keep in mind this is just the "ongoing" one…there's an entirely different list for graphic novels, mini-series, and limited run books.

The Spider-Verse event stuff was not at all my favorite, and Slott literally writes her so that she's inexplicably attracted to Peter because of Spider pheromones, which comes off gross to me. Stick to her solo book, it's more consistent and charming.

That's not at all what I'm saying. I'm saying, if given the same level of marketing and support from the publisher, their sales numbers would be far closer than they are. And you still haven't actually answered the question. If you don't like Silk, that's one thing, and that's totally fine. But declaring it niche

You still haven't told me why Silk is a niche title. Until you can explain why Silk is niche (but none of the other titles I've listed aren't) your entire argument falls apart. You're the one that called Silk a "niche title with limited appeal." Explain to me why it's a niche title with limited appeal. If, as you
