Snyder's New52 Batman and Batman Eternal are relatively self contained and I am enjoying/enjoyed the hell out of both, though there are complaints that the latter can be hard to follow sometimes.
DO IT. Have a drink handy. If possible, a dog to cuddle. It enhances the reading experience exponentially.
From his blog: "Wolf is about a suicidal paranormal investigator who meets a young girl who might just be the key to the impending apocalypse. It’s about vampires, werewolves, concrete, desert, blood and magic. It’s also about California, Los Angeles, and the ways we choose to define ourselves. It’s also, perhaps most…
The loss of Ghost-Racers/Ghost-Rider and Felipe Smith CANNOT be understated.
Robin in general is my jam (Dick Grayson played a huge part in me getting into comics in the first place) and I love the idea of crowd-sourced justice for a lot of reasons…I even got over my initial concern and came around on Harper Row for that very reason. I'm excited about the book, but much like Gotham By…
I assume Preacher is already on your list? I also recommend Luther Strode (still ongoing, only 2 trades out so far but there's a clear plot). The Boys, Scalped, 100 Bullets, DMZ, Y the Last Man, though your mileage may vary on each of those individually. Jeff Lemire's work is very distinct and has a set plot, as…
I'd also suggest you check out "We Are Robin". The #1 just came out last week and it's promising!
It was really difficult to track, but I'm enjoying how the massive tangle is all coming together in the core books now (with Jim and Selena especially).
I'm a huge horror comic person and the Gotham B-/C-Teams are my favorite, so it was pretty much tailor made for me. Did you take on Batman Eternal at all?
*whispers* Graaaayyyyysssssonnnnn. My love for Gotham By Midnight is also well documented, but Grayson. Seriously.
They're comfortable and they hurt people if you kick them. They're the opposite of suck.
I honestly really hate just how bad those first three issues of RHatO were. The book got far more interesting, particularly with Tynion's run, and it's so frustrating to have enjoyed big swaths of it and being unable to convince most people to give it another shot with one of the better issues. One of the first…
Titans: Earth One is awesome, but I'm a huge Teen Titans fan in general and I love most of Jeff Lemire's work so I'm super biased. Everyone I've lent it to has loved it, though.
Most of those one-shot and short miniseries that are out of continuity are considered separate universes, and DC's pulling out all the shots to get them into the Multiversity and the Convergence event. I'm ridiculously excited.
A small correction courtesy of Jon Tsuei: the cover of RunLoveKil l#1 is actually 3D sculpt by the very talented Manu Fernandez.
It's really fun. The art and writing have improved since the first issue and it's awesome to watch Glass hone his skills.
Not even remotely what I meant. Go read some TVTropes.
"Marvel" is not a person. Marvel is a corporation owned by Disney and they make calculated choices about marketing that are sometimes ill-informed but are not based on emotional attachment. Trust me, I'm speaking from experience on this one.
No, it's the one that relies on a white woman shooting an Asian man in the face in his own country when he doesn't speak English. Also, the one where there's random words scrawled on walls without any meaning to them to look intimidating.
