There's this Norwegian playground expression, "feige lag", originally used to bemoan the fact that the opposite team of the pick-up football game got all the good players and you never really had a chance anyway so you don't feel bad about losing to those jerks anyway. It's also used as a miffed (or faux-miffed)

Joel Schumacher has done plenty of good-to-great work besides The Lost Boys, but that Batman stink sure has lingered with his reputation.

I grew up way up in the extreme boonies of northern Europe, and we only had the one national TV channel, so my access to the major toy-selling cartoon series was limited. Although I was every bit as obsessed as your average 80's/90's kid with all that stuff. The tie-in comics were readily available in shops, though,

Must disagree with that; the first couple of seasons of Awkward were pretty damn amazing and hilarious, and the first Finding Carter season was very good until a sudden turn into crap with the second.

Imagine how great that game would be if they just decided to keep ALL of the whimsical stuff in. A great mess, possibly, but I would seriously buy a PS4 to experience such a potentially glorious train wreck. Instead of the boring, super-pretty snooze-fest we seem to be gearing up for.

I do agree with you, regarding the Nintendo of it all, though the "trolls" part is still a bit unfai. Though I kinda wish everyone's favourite schlongnose would give it a rest with the same flipping argument below every flipping Nintendo-related article. That's what's so great about this place, though; even though

Definitely Not The A.V. Club

Yeah, @natureslayer:disqus is right, that kind of name calling has no place here. Do stop by the comments on the regular gaming features, you'll find one of the most pleasant commenting communities on the entire Inter Net.

That's a powerful argument right there.

Yeah, I don't really get how the cross-platform availability of those indie games should count as an argument against the Switch. It takes as a given that you already own a PS4, and also disregards those aforementioned unique features of the Switch.

Yup, that's pretty much right. The not-enough-games complaint has alwas seemed pretty ridiculous to me; how many console owners actually play more than a couple of handfuls of games a year? I'd wager that for most, those 5-6 you cite is very close to the truth.

My apologies; I should have looked harder at the adress of the reply. It looked to me like you were replying to my comment. Sorry.

I have no idea whether or not you're being an asshole, or trying to be funny.

It's like something out of a Lovecraft story…

These are lovely, thanks!

I hadn't thought about Ape Escape in years, but now I remember back in [local high school equivalent], when a friend and I rented the first one and spent an entire weekend trying to beat it. As I recall, it was an amazing game, though I rarely hear it mentioned, so I guess I might just have assumed that it wasn't all

Thanks so much for the recommendations; JRPGs are indeed right up my alley!

Absolutely! If I ever finish this godforsaken degree, I'll be vacating the capitol for the boonies soon as, but until then I'm ideally situated for meeting international travellers.

The idea of failure being inevitable, and essential to learning the lessons that will ultimately win you the game — the very same so central to the Long War mods — is what intrigues me the most about the games, and probably is also what will keep me from playing them. My impulse would be to savescum as if my life
