It is deeply flawed film, but those flaws are the kind of flaws that make the film… if not better, than at least more fascinating, more watchable. And its strengths became even more apparent watching it on a big screen.

I'm liking this analogy more and more.
Hollywood is both a sub and a dom. It's very conflicting, and I don't think you're making it better by calling attention to it like this. GGG, ma'am/sir. GGG.
It's okay. You don't choose your kinks.
But I was so looking forward to holding my breath. I've practised and everything!
I love the tone they've found. It's just so utterly pleasant (I know that sounds like faint praise, but it really isn't meant to be. I'm really bad with cringe humour, and on another show, a plot like the one with Voodoo at the barbecue would have had me watching through my fingers or fastforwarding, but here I didn't…
All sympathies, Shulkie. Like fooltheworld says, the end or rupture of a friendship is no small thing. In the span of six months in 2011, I broke up with one of my two closest friends and got dumped by the other. My mental health issues numbed some of the pain (at least that's what I tell myself), but if it hadn't…
I caught a showing of a battered old print of Purple Rain recently. It was glorious; I was surprised at how emotional I got, much more so than any of the times I've seen it on DVD at home.
Refused! Yasssss.
"Pass this on" is a treasure. Where is that live version from? How different is it from the album?
[Sighs wistfully] Yeah. That was Bunheads.
Man, the Brown Album is such a great record.
Have you read any of Carey's comics work?
Yes. I just watched Stewart Lee's Top Gear bit to celebrate. Well, celebrate is the wrong word, that another person had to get physically hurt for that odious man to get sacked from a publicly funded organisation is f***ed.
Most disappointing cancellation since Bunheads. I'm not saying it feels as upsetting as this, but it's pretty damn close.
Pulled back hair, plus lighting so bad I'm sure it constitutes a fireable offense.
It sounds strange, but believe me, that was "just" a case of horrendously bad/unfortunate lighting. I can't fathom how that made it to broadcast. Maybe the camera crew they sent to D.C. has crap monitors?
Considering how utterly shit and generic it was, it's a wonder it got picked up in the first place. Also, that doesn't give me great hopes for this reunion exercise
Thank you so much for taking the time to throw that together! I've found a lot of great music through your recommendations on here, so I'm really looking forward to digging into what I haven't already tried out from that list. Which, to be honest, is all of it, except from Sufjan (which sounded pretty damn stunning on…
SaB is much more hit-and-miss than The Fosters (I haven't watched Chasing Life yet), but at its best it's capable of great things. It has a tricky tone that makes it less universal than The Fosters, though.
