So the second season was good enough for anticipations to be high heading into the third? I bailed a couple of episodes into season 2; I didn't think it had taken a huge dive in quality, but it seemed rickety enough for me to lose interest. I tend to do this with sf/fantasy series these days; the minute they start

No worries. A break will hopefully help me check the word-spewing habit I got into with the last four. It's been a blast to watch with you so far, though; have a great week!

"Just like a sustained conversation."

"Todd Mulcahy, Part 1"
* Until I read your post I had no idea about Steve Berra being anything other than a surprisingly good guest actor who I'd never seen in anything before or since. Admittedly, my skateboarding knowledge limits itself to an ungodly amount of hours spent on a friend's couch watching him play Tony

I'm surprised at how easy it was to see all four episodes in one sitting; I imagine some of it is due to the rather unformulaic structure of the show. Plots aren't neatly identified as A, B and C like in most other (network) scripted shows, instead bumping and weaving into each other in a way that (at least if you

How long has it been since English football games used to actually start at 6:30? As far back as I can remember, the main kick off time has been Saturdays at 3.

The way my mind works:
You put Anthony Kiedis and "hoosegow" together, ten seconds later, "Bedrock Anthem" is playing on repeat in my head.

Always Bunheads.
Although Happy Endings stung plenty too. Year of Penny! (pours one out)

Open on stirring and super cool slow motion getting-the-band-together-montage, set to "The Boys Are Back in Town".
Smash cut to the Earth's greatest heroes sitting around a table in the Watchtower, looking defeated. Screens detailing the dire status of the Peacock network in background.

Obviously, a storyline was cut where Mary Beth had been watching a lot of Terriers, subsquently developing lots of feelings regarding Hank Dolworth. You would think she'd fancy Britt like the rest of us, but Mary Beth is all about Donal Logue.

Ah, man, I can't believe I forgot that amazing Lunchables shot. I was going to make a joke and everything! Who knows when next I'll be lucky enough to be the Fosters thread starter.

I know these aren't supposed to be heartwarming, but it's Sunday and I'm feeling maudlin, so

No, I'm totally fine with four and three (four for Sunday still means two episodes a day, anyway). Thanks for the heads up, and godspeed with your crunch time at work!

You're welcome! So long as the reason for all that TV passing you by was that you were busy having a life, I wouldn't worry about it. The alternative doesn't really have much utility beyond situations like this.

You're so right in including the Grieg/Perkins relationship. Perkins is one of my absolute favourite things about the show, and perhaps the best example of the strange alchemy at work; by any rights, Carol should come across as an absolutely odious character, but somehow, Perkins' performance and the effortless way in

Violence schmiolence. So long as there's no nudity or profanity, families everywhere are safe.

It's an interesting piece, thanks for the link! You need to edit it for it to work, though. If you put a pasted-in URL in a parentheses, Disqus turns the closed parentheses at the end into part of the link)

* You're so right about much of "Thanksgiving"'s strength coming from how wide it's allowed to range. It almost seems like it's meandering, like a student aimlessly wandering the halls of a dorm emptied out for the holidays, until she happens upon that ad-hoc feast, and everything (everyone) comes together (sorry for

You're right about the central Episodes triumvirate. The fact that he acquits himself so well opposite a couple of powerhouses like Greig and Mangan has made Le Blanc rise quite a bit in my estimation. Not that I didn't like him before, but it's hard to get a read on the talent of someone so closely associated with

I'm really happy Episodes has gone so long, actually. For lack of a better term, it's just such a comfortable show to watch. I usually get very squirmy with sympathetic embarrassment watching comedies that revolve around the characters getting into mortifying, but for some reason, I don't get that way with this show.
