There is nothing ironic about the movie version of Mortal Kombat.

Again, I like most of Wes Anderson's movies. Obviously there is some emotional presence in them. My point was that his films are inherently detached. The emotional "truths" of his films are insulated from criticism by their cartoonish surroundings. As if every emotional punch can be salvaged for a joke if it doesn't

Agreed. She mentions Wallace as part of the New Sincerity movement, but she also (oddly) mentions Wes Anderson. Perhaps she meant Paul Thomas Anderson. I really love most of what Wes has done but I can't think of a director more ironically detached than him.

Agreed. I haven't listened to them for years, but I would be lying to suggest that this band didn't mean a whole lot to me for a short period of my life.

Principle is kind of the problem. No one is accusing of Chick Fil A of being a greedy, faceless organization.

While watching it I couldn't help but think there was an interesting, if unintended, theme to the film about the different moral perspectives towards dogs that are found in different economic classes. Don't get me wrong, the film was heartbreaking. But the three-year court battle to protect the dogs in section one,

104.3 was really the best option until they switched formats. 94.7 still plays oldies, but they cater to fans of the 70's and 80's. Basically, we can count on having some oldies presence in Chicago until Dick Biondi dies.

Didn't they already make a really awesome Ouiji board movie called The Exorcist?
