'Has anybody on tv ever disliked a surprise party thrown in their honor?'.
Don Draper.
'Has anybody on tv ever disliked a surprise party thrown in their honor?'.
Don Draper.
When they call him up, the line's engaged.
This one gets me every time…
"Come on, mate. Haven't you ever slept with a woman without having sex with her?"
Superfreak vs The Freak
As I recall, 'Give It To Me Baby' received more love in the hood and 'Superfreak' was considered 'pretty good for a disco song' by my white friends, who figured all black music was disco.(?!?)
Ooops. Just saw the *do I make you nervous?* scene up in the column. My bad.
A Place in the Sun
No one's mentioning it so I guess it's not her greatest role, but I always dug the *are they watching?* scene in A Place in the Sun.
You speak the truth, Sir. That's an honest summation of what's been wrong with POP music for a LONG time.
I see the few minor black characters on Mad Men portrayed mostly as strong, intelligent people who are tragically marginalized. If the show was about them instead of ad people, we'd see them shaking their heads in incredulous pity for the likes of crazy white folks like Betty Draper Francis.
Faye went too quietly. Remember her in the phone booth earlier this season with the other dude? I thought she was gonna rip Don a new one when he broke it off.
Cactus, I'm not necessarily saying Don DID make a mistake (though the skeptic in me believes Megan encapsulates everything he's looking for a little TOO well). I'm just saying the look his face shows some doubts creeping in. Or could he possibly be thinking about (shudder!) Betty?
That whole scene was too tidy. From the minute Carla let Glenn go upstairs it was obvious she was gonna get canned. It'd be a hoot if one of her kids did go to law or medical school.
Don's last look out the window
Is it possible, as Don laid there awake gazing at the NY sky at episodes end he was thinking he'd made a mistake with the hasty engagement?
Sally's psychiatrist
Such a soothing presence…who wouldn't want to talk to her?
Everything she said was perfect. He never stood a chance.
Growing Pains
Maybe someone else has already mentioned this, but isn't the overarching theme of this season the growth of the fledgling SCDP agency and the precarious nature of it all? That, side by side with Draper's mis steps as he struggles with new personal and professional roles? Actually, each of the main…
Those lines had to be hard to deliver. Is Lane really dashing?
Think about it. Even if Greg comes back from 'Nam, and he most likely will, he's not going to, as Roger put it 'do the math'.
In Crisis
I didn't think Don would be able to pull himself together in time for the Beatles at Shea. I was expecting one more crushing disappointment for Sally.
Joan
Joan is still pregnant, right? I mean, part of the reason for going for the procedure on her own had to be to keep her options open. The encounter with the teary mom must have sealed the decision for her.
Who's gonna register as 'my chocolate bunny'?
