Not to be cute, but this is an exceedingly strange argument you're making here.  I feel like it's incredibly obvious that in this instance "Hollywood" is being used as synecdoche for the film/tv industries as I mentioned before.  This is an entertainment website, a place where that usage would be pretty common.

I feel a little disappointed that he couldn't explain why he bombed.  He does sound legitimately baffled and it's a funny story regardless, but now it's like a mystery with no resolution.  Though I suppose this happens to comedians (and other performers, really): sometimes people just don't like what you're doing.
