Seems like something being in 'bad taste' is inherently dependent upon whether it succeeds as a movie or not.  A really great movie horror movie with Chernobyl as it's backdrop? An excellent commentary on the horrors of nuclear fallout.  A bad horror movie with same backdrop? Exploitative crap.

It might be of some interest to AV Club-ers that this director is the guy currently attached to the Robocop remake.  I know it's of interest to me, at least.  I've been thinking about getting the original Elite Squad through netflix; anyone seen it?
