I think we're just arguing for/against opinions here - so ultimately kind of pointless. You can back up your opinion with all of the arguments you want but I'm still going to just shrug and still think that there's just no way I trust this group of writers (based only on the first ep/writing) to handle this subject…

Haven't read it (I don't think, I'm old and my Stephen King phase was years ago). But still, all of the character building (I almost want to air quote that) is so short handed / ham fisted it feels very 1980 (which I don't think is a plus). Was the rape in the book? Is there any plausible pay off for the child rape…
