I just watched "Better Off Dead," and it's insane. It takes everything that was cheesy about 80s teen comedies and makes them mad. It's no masterpiece, but it's a hell of a ride. I wish there was more from Savage Steve Holland. Also, Diane Franklin was such a fox. As I've only seen this and "Bill and Ted's Excellent…

Incinerator scene of Toy Story 3.
I'd go to one of their parties, but only on the condition that I can have a "sweet piece of Veal," as Mrs. Featherbottom would say.
So wait, Thorpe, are you a fan of Rocky Horror or do you just hate midnight showings in general? If so, then why are you commenting?
Oh, and I saw "The Room" at a full screening over the summer in Kansas City, and it was a blast. I even got to throw a football.
I think "The Room" will be stronger than "Rocky Horror" because the former isn't as much a product of its time as the latter. As the article says, "Rocky Horror" thrived on the shocking and the transgressive juxtaposed with 50's innocence. But "The Room" takes primal human ideas and fears (relationships, infidelity,…
Wait, since when was Elmyra from "Tiny Toon Adventures" black?
In Johnny Depp's Defense
He did make one of the best Westerns of the past few decades, "Dead Man," which contains very highly regarded portrayals of Native American culture. But that was Jim Jarmusch. With Gore Verbinski, I don't know. Could be good.
Nah, I wasn't that ambitious.
Well, it's serious and terrible, which is why it's somehow brilliant and successful. When Tommy Wiseau tries to be funny, it's not as great. But with the Room he thought he was making a masterpiece. The cognitive dissonance between his ambition and his result is the film's secret.
I Would Listen To It
if it were like "The Straight Story," but it probably isn't, so I won't.
It's not. It does follow the original film scene for scene, but if you object to that, then you'd object to seeing multiple stagings of a play. I can count on my hand the number of shots that are similar, so it's definitely worth seeing.
I think the answer's a little inbetween. There are times like the scene when you're just checking out the features of whatever girl's around, even if you're not that interested in her, just because (and since reportedly staring at breasts increases your life expectancy, why not?).
So because post-modernism was never brought into the open before the 60s, nobody could have ever hinted at those ideas before then? Not only is it a silly point, it is one that can't be proven or unproven, since we can't go back to the 20s and ask Joyce. How do you know his words are intentionally randomized? You draw…
Let The Right One In/Let Me In
I've never read the original book, but I've heard that the whole Oskar/Owen taking over from Hakan plot element is not there, but started as an interpretation from the original film that Eli/Abby has been training Oskar/Owen to take over by the end. I don't think there's much of a case…
@ Donald Caballero, you can find his reviews at www.thecinemasnob.com or thatguywiththeglasses.com
I really enjoy the Cinema Snob, though I happen to agree more with his character than Brad Jones himself, particularly in the case of Caligula which is distinctly risible.
