Well damn. Why hasn't there been more of this during the last handful of episodes? Now I'm eager to watch next week.

I enjoyed this episode so much because it was all about Shawn and Gus. There had been so much Shawn and Juliet up till this point. Both of Gus' references to being black were deftly delivered by Dulé Hill. I also got a kick out of this exchange between Shawn and the security guard, Sally:
Sally: "I don't have any white…
I was totally not expecting to see Captain Jack. It would be a waste of Barrowman NOT to have him using his charms to some end. Speaking of which, how would you like to have that type of reputation as a character actor?
I get the impression that his Republican Party has control of both chambers of congress. Therefore he may be feeling a little confident that he'll coast with not much more then a slap on the wrist. That also could be why it is implied, or interpreted, that he has had such a great first term. He is enclosed in an…
Scott Foley is like a "shipper ringer". He is the super secret weapon you use on a show to instantly evoke boyfriend status. So, yes, please bring Jake back for season 3. I want good things for his character too.
The power balance between a Silas vs. Damon matchup was bother me as well. So I rewatched the metamorphis of "Silas" scene and the scene of "Alaric" handing the "cure" to Damon.
Q: How would Silas know that the last thing Damon asked Alaric to do was call Stefan?
- Maybe Silas can perform rapid mind readings.
The rest…
I was going to mention that too. I'm all for suspension of belief in television shows (we are talking about a show full of supernatural creatures). Yet, why bother setting the characters in high school, and reminding viewers of their ages if conventional rules don't apply? If I viewers are asked to swallow down…
I think the urgency of the Caroline/Rebekah/Matt scene had to do with the possibility of cutting her hands off. Sure, Caroline could survive the self-mutilation, but she'd also have cut through her wrists. I don't believe we've seen anyone regenerate limbs on VD yet. Or have we? (I could be wrong) Naw, I don't think…
For the most part I had stopped noticing. Then when Rebekah grab that full bottle of whiskey (?). The Grille was full of people, no script notes for Matt to protest or try to take it from her. It was too much. At this point it seems like the entire town knows these fools are vampires and are too polite to speak up.…
Alaric hands Damon the cure. He wonders what to do. I suggest getting rid of it as fast as humanly possible. People are losing their damn minds over this little vile. Don't waste time being dramatic about it either, Damon. Just pour that stuff out and walk the hell away.
How? Cause the writers want it that way. No, really, who knows. I'll try my hand at rationalizing it though: Silas' body was turned to stone (or calcified) but his clothes were left unaffected.
Lady Nym, that was hands down the best episode of this entire quagmire of a season. This episode needed more Damon and Alaric.
This week in Matt appreciation: the shit is going down, dead Original throws a broken bottle into your shoulder, Caroline has a brief breakdown, power is out — and yet Matt still properly closes up the Mystic Grille (even locks the door on the way out). I'm not going to bother with the obvious holes (why was he…
I was super stoked to see Alaric. Then Grams popped in, and I love a Jasmine Guy cameo. Yet you bring up a sad point, and yeah, I'm just gonna go sit in the corner and ponder that.
Still watching episode, haven't read review, but need to share. So really, what's up with the blind eye to the under age drinking at the Mystic Grille? Grabbing bottles like it's your house? Pouring your own shots?
I was wondering the same thing. If this was 'The West Wing', on any given day Cyrus seems to do the jobs of C.J., Sam, Josh, and Leo combined.
I'm just going to assume Scott Foley likes playing characters that pine away, get a taste, but ultimately never get the girl.
I watched the Cyrus/James scene w/ my mouth agape. I'm sure when you have a "beltway spouse/partner" you know you're signing up for a certain amount of misdirected vitiriol. However, Cyrus has consistently belittled and abused James. ("Damn, Cy. Imma have to start calling you "Ice King")
Damon was right, Matt's the guy everyone loves… But apparently can barely seem to extend themselves to worry about his life when it doesn't involve them. Caroline being so shocked (shocked, I say) to hear about his grades was pathetic.
That's why there's an (un)official "no kill" order on Matt, this group needs a…
If that's the case, that Matt was working Full-time, then he really does need new friends. At least Tyler was thinking of him when he left him the deed to the house (how the hell is he keep the utilities on in that place? And who is dusting?).
