Just listened to that very insidery Dustin Marshall interview. Wow. Lots of animosity between him and the Earwolf guys. He refers to them as a "death squad" at one point. I'd love to hear more gossip on the podcast network wars.

Inbetweena Turner is one of the best Tina Turner impersonators in Canada, but I still prefer Bill Pullman/Paxton and Dylan Mc/Dermott Mulroney.
You should check out some more episodes. It took me about 4 episodes for the show to really click with me, but now it is easily in my Top 5 each week. All the PFT episodes are great, as are the ones with Kyle Kinane, Brent Butt, or Charlie Demers.
SPY has been absolutely wonderful lately. Dave's criticism of Primus in this week's episode made me completely lose it at work. "Primus was dumb. They're virtuosos at their instruments…but they make dumb music for stupid people." Just him saying anything mean in that mellow, deadpan voice of his is hilarious to me.
Haha no worries. I appreciate the respectful correction! Really, I should have known that.
Paul F Tompkins was SO EXCITED to hear that story about the water skiing dog. Also, "Congratulations on your 0% crime rate."
I think Glaser just doesn't fit in so well with the chummy LA podcast scene (word to his infamous You Made it Weird appearance). Aukerman did a good job of adjusting to his different energy though, and I liked his CBB a lot. I've been enjoying him on Parks n Rec, and I'm super-excited for the finale of Delocated, a…
Is anybody here listening to Earwolf's hip hop podcast Shots Fired? The first couple episodes were shaky, but I am liking it a lot more now. I wish there were more professional podcasts about specific genres of music like that.
Yeah, it even sounds good (though obvs not ideal) coming out of my pathetic iphone headbuds (which is how I'm listening to it RIGHT NOW).
Even if you prefer Isn't Anything to Loveless, you should definitely check this new one out soon. A few songs, like Only Tomorrow and New You, split the difference between the two older albums, and the stuff towards the end of this record recalls the noise of You Made Me Realise.
I don't have anything witty to say; I just want to say that I agree with you wholeheartedly.
Haha upon reading your reply my first thought was "There's NO WAY Lupe is under 30. I looked it up and it turns out he just turned 30 this year. I thought he was closer to 40! Food & Liquor seems so long ago. Also, I will check out Rapsody.
Rocky is the only prominent New York rapper not trying to recreate the mid 90's or the Def Jux scene. He deserves credit for using of-the-moment production and for trying out Texas/Tennessee/Wherever Bone Thugs Was From-style flows.
I wouldn't say "wretched," but yeah, it's a little thin for some of these songs. It'd be interesting to hear a more mainstream R&B singer with a fuller voice take on a track like "So Many Details."
Other than the Black Hippy guys, I can't think of a single rapper under the age of 30 who has really great or meaningful lyrics. Rocky is better than some and no worse than most.
The worst offender in the "talking about Twitter too much" sweepstakes isn't actually a comedy podcast. I love Pop Culture Happy Hour, but you could make an extremely fast-paced drinking game out of counting how many times they start a sentence with, "I was talking to ____ on Twitter, and…"

Thanks to everybody who gave me SPY episode recommendations last week. I listened to about 8 episodes since then, and I am hooked. The Brent Butt and Kyle Kinane episodes were my favorites. The bit in the Brent Butt one about Graham battling Justin Bieber in "Mixed Marital Arts" had me rolling.

I haven't seen Flight, but I gotta second your visceral hatred of Away We Go. Words cannot describe how angry that movie made me at the time I saw it. Looking back on it now, it's probably too slight and modest to warrant that much hatred, but emotions are weird like that.
