That notion that it'd be useless had kept me from trying before, but it's actually surprisingly easy to call and get a human on the phone (a hapless unpaid intern, in all likelihood, but still). The kratom people did a really good job of mobilizing people and making contacting your representatives as easy as possible.

Yeah, they were clearly really enraged over the use of gender-neutral pronouns.

I actually called all of my representatives for the first time in August, to ask them to push back against the DEA's proposed ban of an extremely safe herbal supplement that people use as an alternative to opioids (kratom), and it turned out surprisingly well so far (the DEA backed down on the ban after a bunch of

Which part is the divisive part, exactly?

Oh, man…that's my husband's favorite terrible joke.

The comments actually seem refreshingly civil and enlightened so far. Yay!

I was just commenting about this in another article. I mean, it's much, much worse when the article whose existence enrages you is a personal, thoughtful piece on the lesbian existence in America, but it's annoying when they do it for less personal things, too. Every frickin' time that there's an article about a YA

There was a lot of potential left for further stories after the last book, so I'm excited to see what they end up doing with this.

That's what I was going to say - did this study include older age groups too? If not, then the story might not be "teens can't tell the difference", so much as "people can't tell the difference".

Ewww, indeed. That pug was not the world's brightest dog, but the day she figured that scheme out was her shining moment, intellectually speaking.

Except, if you've got a dog who occasionally has #2-related accidents inside, then definitely don't get a Roomba! I had a dog who hated the Roomba and would poop in front of it on purpose - Roomba was very short-lived.

My sister loved that book when she was little, but it also scared her a bit. She eventually ripped out the last page of the book to protect Grover (and herself), which of course takes away the adorable ending.

When I read some kid's book that talked about how astronaut toilets work, I decided I'd rather be an astrophysicist and work for NASA. I think I was 7 or 8? But yes, as it turns out, I'm not nearly athletic enough to have managed to be an astronaut.

Lots of high profile Republicans made the choice to vote for Clinton instead of Trump. Everyone had a choice.

I've got to ask, then, what is it you're hoping Trump will do? He's a terrible businessman (6 bankruptcies!), so there's no reason to think he'll have a solid economic policy. What positive does he have in your eyes that could possibly outweigh the toxic bigotry?

I think we underestimated how much of a hold virulent, old school racism, and that led to some serious miscalculations. Pointing out and fighting against systemic racism, however, is still important. It's especially important, in fact, because it's so much easier for white America to pretend it doesn't exist.

Here's a biggie: because Hillary has positive qualities too. She's a lifelong feminist, and while her career had high and low points, people just wanted to focus on the lows.

Don't bother with Hercules, but New Groove was cute. I really liked Patrick Warburton's character in it (Gronk, I think?).

The feathers might've been a clue

Almost as annoying as when people use "light years" to mean a measure of time.
