…and thank goodness they do. Cirroc Lofton couldn't act his way out of a paper bag.

You know, I never thought about it before, but the way Ferengi study the Rules of Acquisition is kind of like how Jews supposedly study the Torah. I still think "Ferengi are Jewish stereotypes" is a bit of a stretch. Unless the stereotype is that Jews have money, which makes the comparison pretty shallow.

I'm not sure why people seem to think "Captive Pursuit" is so great. Zack's right that I never felt like anything was at risk. I'm glad they didn't stick to the whole "Who's coming out of the wormhole now?" formula.

The problem here is that the characters themselves are only compelling in the context of the original Watchmen. They're basically archetypes of superheroes, which means any backstories you try to give them will probably be bland and generic.

You'd think the advent of the Internet would create the opposite effect. Spend some time learning your instruments and writing songs, then record some songs onto your computer and get them out there digitally. Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but it sounds like a good way to reach a lot of people relatively

It's in "A Simple Investigation" in season 3. I don't want to ruin it for others.

Yup. Just trying to spread the whole "let's get rid of physical media" idea. I have seasons 1-4 of Futurama and all the movies, but if I ever want to watch them, I always pull them off of Netflix.

IMHO, they've added some great stuff to the streaming library lately. Portlandia! Todd Margaret!

I have no problem at all with the phasing out of DVD's. I used to balk at streaming, but now I'm convinced it's the way to go. I'm sick of using up space in my house for DVD's when it's so much easier to bring it up on a streaming service.

Garak, your perspective is always welcome. My favorite scene out of any episode of Deep Space Nine remains your interpretation of The Boy Who Cried Wolf.

I can’t remember any Star Trek episode before “Past Prologue”
in which two main cast members clashed with each other as much as Sisko and
Kira do. It’s like they were really chomping at the bit to get away from Gene
Roddenberry’s rules.

…except when River Song says it on Doctor Who. In that case, it's a signal to begin speculating.

It was The Gathering, IIRC. Thanks…the phrase "massive retooling" makes it sound better.

Alurin, that's exactly my point. That's why I got a kick out of the Prophets storyline.

At that point in my life, I watched Star Trek for the cool sci-fi concepts. I wanted to have my mind blown, and couldn't care much for characters or drama. So yeah, that was my sugar.

Go watch Sharon Van Etten perform on Jimmy Fallon. She would've been great.

Look at the difference between Lana del Rey and Annie Clark of St Vincent. Both very pretty, but somehow Internet commenters love one and hate the other. It's almost as if they're being judged on something other than their looks! …like maybe their talent?! How awful!

Skipper Dan is a great song, but it's one of those that would be hard to do a different take on. Plus, it's not very recognizable, which I think is the point with a lot of these.

I tried the first episode of B5 after friends talking it up multiple times. Couldn't make it through the episode. It was painful.

When I was 14 and this show first came on TV, the parts that interested me the most were the interaction between Sisko and Picard, and Sisko meeting the Prophets. Now when I go back and rewatch it, I enjoy everything else. I appreciate what you're saying about the Prophets storyline being unnecessary, Zach, but I can
