I think "pretentious" actually gives them too much credit. Pretentious usually means there's some intentional difficulty or over sophistication. More like self-absorbed and bland (at their worst, that is. I still like the first 2 albums).

Just my opinion, but "wincing …" Is glum and lifeless in too many places. "Chutes…" doesn't have a bum track, start to finish.
Wait, are we pretending that the finale didn't happen? I'm fine if we are, for several reasons, one of which being that Logan's final act seemed somewhat out of character/out of the blue.
"Like, one of the best." Kids say the darnedest things!
Your name says it all ;).
Huh, I was thinking of "Last Exit" as one particular example of his uninspired drumming.
Not a big fan of the song, but that version (thinking of their Austin City Limits set, which was a great set, overall) absolutely slays.
Oh, how I love Faithful. Thanks for reminding me.
That's funny; it might be my least favorite song on the album.
Dave was wholly incompatible with the direction they were heading. Listen to his work on Vitalogy - blah.
Almost every album for me has 1 or 2 gems (usually the Vedder-penned tunes), but I'm more of an album guy, when it comes to them. Through that lens, No Code is my favorite, hands down.
Thank you - that is exactly what I was going to say… Funny, angry, sad, and braggadocious, all at the same time. But silly? Couldn't think of an adjective that is further from the mark.
"I'd rather be mouth-f#cked by Nazis, unconscious…"
Jeans isn't a letter! It's pants!

Oh my god, shut up. As others have said, it is irrelevant to the state of cinema, and the whole point of the post was a point raised *by somebody else.* Should he have written an angry fan letter to Brett Easton Ellis to make sure that he also condemns Malaysia's record in all future interviews whenever he mentions…
No, you're thinking of NOFX.
I'm not sure where the sarcasm begins/ends, there, but yes, these things (up until "DITF") are true about me. Not that it matters.
Maybe they'll post an "Inventory" of "Thirteen songs written about internet comment sections," and that will make you feel better.
