I googled him after reading this, and came across his "Oh Bo" video.

Good call.  In defense of the original casting, Natalie Portman is dainty, bloodless and boring, making her a nearly ideal choice for Lady Macbeth.

Where is the link to the rant?

FUCK YEAH.

@avclub-5b7e0a1ad5d9ac9ef3063b05f55b6d31:disqus Yeah, that sounds like a bummer.  I gather the young man in question hasn't exactly had positive experiences with romance.  The Asuka avatar is almost too much, like he's doing some elaborately maintained satire.

Since the original comments have been removed, can someone clarify for me how this thread went from chastising the OP for being creepy and chauvinistic (makes sense, give the generally grotesque tenor of the OP's other remarks) to chastising the OP for holding doors open for women?

Personally, I like it when my significant other promotes herself for my birthday.  The more hits her portfolio-blogosite gets, the more loved I feel.

@avclub-5b7e0a1ad5d9ac9ef3063b05f55b6d31:disqus In regards to chilling, nah, I'm good.  While I generally try (and perhaps often fail) to temper my intensity, especially with those I disagree with, there's something about you that I just don't like.

@avclub-4fe0c5d7aa43671f5ec9d876b7dddb35:disqus Getting a bit off track, but I feel the need to correct you.  You're repeating a common misconception.

@persia2:disqus Honestly - and I mean this, I generally try to think hard about my own misstatements - I don't really see how you could misread my remarks in that specific way.  After all, I still placed the notion that HIV has a moral component on a shithead spectrum, next to pimping torture and domestic violence.

@avclub-b7784c3d4ede54a8f3e13b304f3a991a:disqus Fuck yeah.  Agreed.  Well, mostly, but close enough.  No need to split hairs.

@avclub-db0c35ce2663c0e8c4b3f38642a49748:disqus To answer your questions, which I think are quite reasonable and fair:

@avclub-e3f5ab7f02122f95b801e13e2c586d6a:disqus Are you trolling me?  Or really that confused?  You're wrong, and Persia is wrong.  I'm not asserting that HIV has a moral component in the fucking least, I was paraphrasing the author's critique of Tyler Perry.

Yes, I can.  I'm paraphrasing the author, who wrote that Tyler Perry is implying that "HIV is a disease that infects the immoral."  I'm asking this sincerely: was that really so hard to understand?  Or are you trying to get indignant?

Who is 'they?'  Is they me?  Are you trying to suggest I'm in favor of domestic violence because you completely misread my post?  Surely not, because that would make you awfully shitty, and I'm quite sure you're not awfully shitty, anonymous internet friend.

"It isn’t unusual for a critical hive mind to form…"

I remember trying to watch his show back in the day, and getting nearly ill watching him sneer through his ending monologues (which were routinely about how stupid Americans are… presumably for not having HBO and watching his show?).

The fucking face he makes makes me want to fucking shit, vomit and piss simultaneously.

Well, that was surprisingly enjoyable.  A noticeable step up from the rest of this season.  Things are happening, those things were exciting and funny.  Best of all, almost no recycled jokes!
