Hey, Jackass 2 was only $3 and that Fiver was totally burning a hole in my pocket.

"Simmons’ previous historical fictions, The Terror and Drood, were filled with minutiae as well, but here his attention to detail proves a fatal flaw."

Yeah, that was just brilliant.

I'd forgotten Hiddleston was even in it.

All things considered, yes, I thought it was quite good.

"What has two eyes and one of them is black?"

Yeah, they made a point of reminding us that Middle English was Chaucer's version of the language—and then put it in the mouths of people who spoke Early Modern English.

I'm kind of sad that the manuscript exists only in the confines of a fictional drama.  I don't think I'd have much time in my life to read the whole thing, but I do like the idea of it being available.

While I haven't watched SVU in years, the notion that Munch was still on after all these years left me feeling good about life.  I guess I shouldn't have taken that feeling for granted.

Yeah, this.  Dinklage has been publicly averse to magical little people type roles.  But a normal human using his stature to get one over on the rubes is pretty consistent with his resume.

"Foulmouthed leprechaun"?  Is there any other kind of leprechaun?

He's also re-watching the more Omar-heavy episodes of The Wire.

Fortunately it was the 80s, and no one noticed.

And even then, while Ellis may not like super-heroes, he's still capable of writing good stories about them that treat them in respectful manner. Planetary seems to be as much as a Valentine to the genre as it is a deconstruction.

I thought the Mandarin made some headway with the X-Men.  Or maybe it was just Psylocke.  Wolverine beat her and made her good again, so your point probably stands.

Let's not go overboard regarding Mr. Clark.  He did also give us Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things long before Hollywood came knocking.

While Mason's was played for laughs, he was quite competent throughout the film, which is refreshing.

Murder by Decree!  All-star-cast!  Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper! Awesome film despite the silly Masons plot!   GRUMBLE!!!
There, I'm done.

Son of bitch! Bastard!  What did you do me?  I don't want to live! I don't want to live!

Eh, the original scene still makes me misty-eyed, even though I should probably know better.
