When I saw Quantum Leap, I thought it was going to be one where Sam leaps into a Charles Starkweather clone holding a mother and daughter hostage, and then somehow the bad guy manages to escape the recovery room in the future, and Al has to chase after him.  In the meantime, Sam has to come clean with the mom. It was

At this stage it tends towards the latter although the character of Sherlock is starting to take shape and look rather like Conan Doyle's character.  I suspect that now that it's been picked up, we'll start to see more ties to the source material (whilst trying not to wholesale crib from the Cumberbatch show).
