I still have a soft spot in my heart for the early King's Quests. Oh, my naive amazement at how advanced graphics were becoming in the second KQ because the flags on the castle fluttered in the wind.

I am now even more grateful for the advice. I picked up Disgrace and have only put it down in order to hop onto AV Club. Thanks again!
Yes, I remember when House of Leaves was finally published and people would come into the bookstore and ask for it using descriptions like yours DS. I'd have the book in their hands before they finished describing it. I tried to get into it once, but failed. Perhaps it's worth a revisit.
I am in awe…
Everyone - thank you for the advice. I'll pick up Disgrace at work tonight.
Authorship Matters
"It was simultaneously exciting, liberating, and kind of a "duh!" moment."
Special Mega Bonus Edition
Tasha - thank you so very much for taking the time to make this such an interesting and all-encompassing analysis. This has, and will continue to be, one of my favorite columns on this site.
Woops. Thanks for the clarification.
Missile Command
I haven't seen King of Kong yet (it's now #1 in my queue) so bear with me if this is answered in the film. In the MTV interview it looked as if Billy was training in order to beat Mr. Awesome's Missile Command record. Is this something he's actually attempted? Or was this just implied in order to…
Venus on the Half-Shell
It's so great to see that Farmer's still working and active on the internet (even though the purple highlights on the black background of his website did hurt my eyes a bit).
Uri - I think I fall under the problem of reading the book then seeing the movie. I was frustrated with the book but then even angrier at the movie. The movie got rid of the book's most annoying part (the major Club Dumas twist), but it failed miserably with the development of The Girl/Irene Adler character. Irene…
Who Will Be…
…the Greatest American Hero?
For some odd reason I read The Shadow of the Wind immediately after reading The Club Dumas so I might be a little skewed on thinking that it was pretty good especially in comparison.
I Thought you Were Headed Elsewhere
with that last line. Easy to digest even easier to…forget? I think you should have gone for it.
I'm a sucker
for books that are about books. It seems that many tend to lean toward soap-opera moments like The Club Dumas or Shadow of the Wind. I suggest skipping The Club Dumas - I felt like I'd wasted my time and that's a rare feeling for me when it comes to reading. Also don't get me started on that Johnny…
Advice?
I have yet to read any of Coetzee's works. Waiting for the Barbarians is on my bookcase, but every time that I pick it up I almost immediately reshelve it. Maybe my reaction is due to the fact that I'd like to try Coetzee, but am uncertain whether or not this novel is his best introduction.
Game Show Congress
Those Game Show Congress attendees must be going apeshit over this!
For Comedy Central stuff you'd naturally go to their website and not YouTube. Ahem.
Boozehammer of Galen
I've been in denial about knowing this, but Patton Oswalt played the funniest character on Reno 911 called Boozehammer of Galen. He's the D&D nerd who keeps getting in trouble at Ren Faires. Worth looking for on YouTube if you're as big of a nerd as I am (apparently).
