Starscream, you made me laugh until I got all teary-eyed. The connection never occurred to me between my posted name and those famous nasty newborn diapers.

Isabelle
Just wanted to add another warm congratulations to Scott and Alison. Isabelle is gorgeous. I wish you both the best of luck and much joy in the coming years.

Great Contributions
The comments/reviews about the movies included here were some of the best I've recently either read or heard. Every one included should be proud. Aw shucks, now I've gone and made y'all blush.

Amazing Midget Radio Comics
I'm delighted to see The Escapists get a great review. Chabon's beautiful descriptions of comic panels in The Amazing Adventures… were truly magnificent (and something I thought couldn't be done well in prose). I can't wait to see how Vaughan brings those comics further to life in what

Woops - I'm a goober. Uri bending spoons' post below is leaps and bounds better at making the point I so lamely tried to express.

Zack, thanks for the info. Based on your review I'll pick this up and give it a try.

Egad
From reading paragraph two of the review it really sounds like a debut novel or a paper that was composed in a college fiction writing class. I think I'll have compassion on myself and skip this one and see what Bock does in the future.

Thriller?
So would the book have received a higher rating if it hadn't tried to contain aspects of thrillers? Did you get the feeling that the publishers wanted to add those things in order to appeal to a wider audience? Or is there another reason for the minus?

Eh, again I've never really paid attention to the number of posts before. I still have no clue if by breaking 1000, then it'd break a record. I'd like to at least think it'd be in the top ten most commented-upon articles. I might have to search the site to see if they have a listing of the most popular posts

This whole post made me laugh from the moment the picture of the tin popped onto my screen.

I actually am one of those people who doesn't care to see Cloverfield. I read the review and some of the comments, but stopped reading after it became a 9/11 argument. I never looked back since I wasn't interested in the number of posts at that time.

fudgey - thanks for the info. I had no clue what some of the higher-numbered posts have been (obviously I was too lazy to actually look into it). I'll still find it amusing if this ends up being in the top three.

Yep, this has entered into a whole new level of entertaining absurdity. I find it even more wonderful how well the ridiculousness of this situation mirrors the topic of the list: the facade of self-serious firsties crumbling before a site glitch.

Just to prove I have no life - I went through and tried to count all the attempted firsts. By my tally there were 120 (+/- 4 due to potentially missing veiled firsts or posts that unintentionally seemed "firstish") out of 401 comment (not replies).

It's been a very enlightening, funny, and scary experience for all.

Welcome to the club.

I'm so Short -

Two Things
1. Isn't that a cross-sectioned horse on the Captain Beyond cover? Although it is a dog-sized horse.

Resplendently Self-Serious
Now I know what the ceiling above my bed's been missing! Pictures of these album covers should complement the giant mirror and disco ball.

Sadistic It Is
I do enjoy learning about interesting books, but must admit that reading about the craptastic books is a tad more interesting (and usually funnier).
