Preston & Child
One of my guilty pleasures is Preston and Child's "Pendergast" books, and I've heard that their solo books aren't as interesting as their collaborations. So since Preston was collaborating with someone else I wasn't sure if it would be worth the time (apparently it is).

uri, you have given me even more hope. I'll track down your recommendations on the audio-books and will let you know what I think. This may take awhile - my life is going through another "hectic cycle." However, I do commute to work and would be able to listen during the most dreaded parts of my day - perhaps

Little Hipster Douchebags
As I was watching the Frightened Rabbit video there was a little girl doing an odd shaking-hand dance. My mind wandered as it often does and I thought of the staffer who did the "icky dance" because of the Cheeseburger in a Can. There was also a girl that looked like she was loathing the

"With a yawning, tooth-filled mouth…"
It's been awhile since last I said it, but this week's excellent entry makes me want to shout it out: Damn, I love this series - thank you Keith!

It's wonderful to learn that many of the theories I have are shared with others - thanks to all the contributers. I've just always felt bad for the Books comments…like the reviewer puts so much time into reading/reviewing then posts it, and the response can seem like crickets chirping.

Books Section
I've been pondering some things since last Wednesday and with the new Book Reviews I felt like I should bring them up for general discussion.

Your thought processes are indeed transparent.

Lord help me, but I'll give a go at trying to answer this. First and foremost you must realize that you're reading "The Hater" and therefore there will be hate. Sometimes justified hatred, but not always.

Interactivity
1. It's a toss-up between the duck a l'orange and the poached egg.

Peepi: Destroy!!!

D&D Love
Jason - I want to add another thank you for your fantastic post.

I also think that owning books has been an addiction most of my life. I have fond memories of libraries as a child, but whenever I would get money the one thing I wanted was to go out and buy a book. I still have all the Nancy Drew books I bought and wish that I had the ones I borrowed from my classroom. Will I

Silly town
Thank you for the link to that episode of This American Life - I found it fascinating. From now on I don't think that I'll look at an Onion headline in the same way.

Just saw iota's response to nullentropy - my question's answered (thanks for the info iota).

Disney might not want it
but I bet Stephen Schwartz has already bought the rights.

Apparently I lack culture
I haven't heard of Banks or his Culture series - they sound amazing. I've worked in bookstores for years and I don't even recall shelving any of his books.

Opera…oh opera…
Terry Jones has an opera that debuted in December entitled "Evil Machines." Yes, it's about machines trying to take over the world.

They must have also done some major photoshoping to lose about an inch from the lower half of her face. And where's her red pleather suit? She is a scary woman, both on the inside and the outside.

The one with the chick was KQ4: The Perils of Rosella. I think the one that had the shark was KQ2: Romancing the Throne. It also had mermen and vampires. I remember working out the sequence I needed to type in order to kill Dracula: use light. open coffin. use steak. [dammit!] use stake.

Donna, I have not read it but it sounds fantastic. I will definitely pick it up at work tomorrow. Thank you so much!
