That it is, Warren.

BEES?!?!

First Job…
…was at a performance theater on Long Island, that housed mostly jazz and has-been rock acts. I have quite a few stories involving some moderately famous musicians, including Robert Fripp and Billy Cobham. Also, I got to smoke up at all the reggae shows. That was a great job.

Well, there was that one thing Blake did…

I got through about an hour and a half of Inland Empire before I said, "I have absolutely no idea what is going on in this movie," and gave up. Only Lynch movie I've done that with. Can anyone tell me if I'm missing anything special?

Actually, I take that back about Elephant Man and Straight Story. The more I think about it, the strangest thing I find about those movies was how straightforward they are compared to the rest of his films.

The "weird for the sake of weird" argument is pretty much useless given the fact that Lynch is a *genuinely* weird human being. Are we supposed to expect a guy like Lynch to produce anything other than weird movies? I mean, even his conventional movies (Elephant Man, Straight Story) are pretty out there compared to

If you give him a monocle, Nabin is totally Mr. Monday from Venture Bros.

Jesus Christ, my summer reading list keeps getting longer and longer. I'll be picking it up this week.

Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing."

I don't think John Updike would care, being dead and all.

I always thought of Larry Flynt as being more quintessentially American. Loud, brash, and a frequently disgusting advocate of free speech and hardcore porn.

That is a pretty great book, if only for the fact that it got me into Big Black and Mission of Burma.

Last dance, last chance, for loooove.

Ooo, a fresh batch of America balls!!!

Yes, and ditto for Kurt Vonnegut.

If you don't chip in your buck-o-five, who will?

See, that's why I asked. Been around for centuries, but our stand-up is obviously a completely different animal from what the jesters of yore were doing.
