I dunno. As things in the MCU continue to get weirder and weirder, it will be nice to have the farmer with the bow and arrows at the heart of things, being awesome and always willing to back up his friends.

It's about as well set up as Lando Calrissian is in Empire. Falcon says: "I know a guy" and then Scott climbs out of a van, has some big scenes, disappears.
I do! Hawkeye is awesome.
I think gamers reacted to the honesty in the strips. As funny as they are, it's very easy to identify the people at the table as people you know, or have been, at one time or another. Plus, humor. That makes everything more enjoyable. I game, but I barely read the other articles in each issue.
It kind of did.
I like the cut of your jib.
"It gets better halfway through the first season!"
Good news! You don't.
Eh… I dunno. I was 8 years old when I read Lord of the Rings (the first time) and I got by just fine without footnotes.
Branding!
I guess? I mean, I've seen them all. So my experience is going to be different from someone who hasn't seen any of them, who is going in cold to "Civil War" or what have you. But I think the broad strokes are possible to get from the text. They may not impact you as much, but then again, you may be inspired to go back…
I like Planetary, but I never drank the Kool-Aid. I have plenty of things to whine about, especially in those first couple issues.
I game every weekend (or nearly), and the book just tickles me so much. It's honestly my favorite thing every month. Despite the crude drawing and the low stakes. It has heart, dammit!
Beta Ray Bill! He's awesome.
I like Don Cheadle, so I was kind of excited to see him take over from Howard, who was pretty dull. Cheadle can keep up with Downey, Jr., at least, and it's easier to believe the two of them are long time friends.
Except the part in Avengers when Mark Ruffalo directly mentions the battle with the Abomination in Harlem, or William Hurt's Thunderbolt Ross showing up in Captain America: Civil War, which pretty much place Incredible Hulk in the MCU.
That's the key to these superheroes. Part of why they wear bright costumes and masks and such. They are icons, archetypes, etc. Easy to grasp, let's get to big set piece and have fun already!
Did you just Yadda Yadda superheroes?
You didn't miss anything in Age of Ultron by skipping the second Thor movie or getting bored by the second Captain America movie. Seriously. The "homework" thing is a myth.
It doesn't actually work that way.
