Can anyone give me a quick Gateway to Ochs?  An album or a couple of his key songs on youtube or something?  I've always heard the stories about him and Dylan and his depression and all that, but I've never gotten beyond that stuff into the actual work.

Fuck this.  The Conversation is Great.  People just won't fucking shut up about the Godfather. There is nothing about those two that is better than The Conversation. 

Giamatti really is one of the most one note characters that's been on the show.  

This is all really well put UMD. I tried to make the same points a while back when everyone around these parts was deeply offended by Miranda July's existence.  Something happens that is hard to articulate, but equally hard to ignore when the whole internet decides it doesn't like a female artist. 

I guess they mean their comedy isn't just them doing that thing where they switch names to both go on a date with the same woman.

Also, I would say MY very special episode was Fire Ant.  Seeing the full episode live at midnight on a Sunday when I was in high school was a revelation.

I don't understand this feature at all.  Why are these DVDs chosen?  Who wants to know that Fireproof is out today?

Late hitting stopped being fun, but I think it was kind of important to the texture of the game.  You were constantly pressing buttons and making things happen.  It's not that it was fun or interesting, it just kind of kept up the stupidly manic pace.

Are you saying that we just need a new word without the record label baggage?  Or do you think that there should be some fundamental shift in how we look at bands?

That is THE problem?  What are the effects of this awful problem?  That some 18 year olds are annoying in that one specific way instead of all the other ways an 18 year old can be annoying?

I'd say A Matter of Life and Death is a good bet.  It's about as charming as it gets.  If you want to see if you like their style, youtube the first scene in which a fighter pilot falls in love with a secretary he has never met as his plane goes down.

I'm not really sure why anyone looking for some new bands to like in 2012 would be interested on what is an isn't a SST band.  I love all the bands mentioned here, but at this point the label fetishism and politics feels like a pointlessly tedious entry point into some really exciting stuff.

I love that movie.  That rooftop footage is really beautiful.
