"Men. Men in Bolivia herding goats. Not building friendships, just herding goats and perhaps murdering each other."
"Men. Men in Bolivia herding goats. Not building friendships, just herding goats and perhaps murdering each other."
Seriously. The "sitcom" label seems to have been applied because "women and their friendships" just doesn't seem like a rich enough topic for cinema (in the eyes of A.A. Dowd.)
It's not your math grade for the semester; it's pop culture criticism based on subjective impressions.
Maybe you just have a hard time laughing at jokes when women say them? Saying Aziz Ansari is the funniest part of "Parks" is like saying the wishbone is the best part of the turkey.
That faux-Victorian style exhibited in Harry's offices was very popular among mods in Britain at the time. So, this decor choice shows Harry's willingness to adopt just about any trend, no matter how ridiculous or ill-suited to his personality (see also: Harry's Nehru suits, facial hair choices, et al.)
Realistically, Peggy cannot have a smooth ride in the workplace, otherwise the show is actually white-washing the very real forces of sexism that affected women at the time.
Yo Skippy:
Yeah?
That was the joke.
Nothing scares a straight man as much as a mean girl. Except a pretty mean girl.
The link doesn't go to her actual piece—it goes to a summary of it (that doesn't represent her writing style a bit.)
Everybody betray me!
One wonders if this show is available online somewhere . . . perhaps in a [tiny url]?
Lisa Kudrow is a genius. She's worth her weight in "Studio 60" promo posters and Jen Aniston nipples.
Viva El Pierce! Living to be fifty and getting paid to write are basically my two biggest life ambitions, and I'm not kidding. Beats the hell out of not getting paid to comment.
Sorry, by "Finn" above I meant "Puck." Not a Freudian slip.
Yes, they could fire Cory and just give Finn all his songs and storylines and the show would improve. Mark Salling is extremely dynamic, and he can actually move around without thinkin' too hard on it.
Blindly, idiotically defensive, that is.
Whatever, StudioTodd is right. This show is its own fanfic. Glee apologists are worse than Glen Beck apologists—or at least, equally defensive.
Quit parent-shaming, Poop Shirt. Go slut-shame instead.
