Nay. William Shatner singing "Rocket Man" is the greatest thing ever created by Western Civilization.
It's kind of funny but it wasn't until I saw the film that I began to really put the pieces together in terms of the album's narrative.
On the bright side, it's pretty cool for a 37 year old to see on DVD, I can tell you.
@Dikachu:disqus The Floyd may have been influenced in early gigs by the likes of Chuck Berry and blues musicians but that really was short-lived. There's really little of these influences (if any) that survived on Piper or Saucer… or any albums afterwards.
@avclub-04d524031f29c89d78cae864bd6f0de7:disqus Agreed per Rick Wright. I've always loved "Summer '68" and, what I like to think of as its companion piece, "Remember a Day" (off Saucerful of Secrets).
The live disc of "Ummagumma" is phenomenal, thank you very much.
@Dikachu:disqus The remastered version of "The Final Cut" contains "When the Tigers Broke Free". Frankly, I feel that it fits the narrative of that album far more than "The Wall" anyway.
The reply was so obvious and yet I can't stop laughing. Well done, sir!
Forget about the original draft of Alien, I'd like to see the William Gibson draft of Alien 3.
Your loss than, I suppose. The album is an exceptionally strong one in their catalog. You may want to give it a spin sometime as it's an album that takes a bit of getting used to before it really shines. My first experience with it left me unimpressed but subsequent listening has been rewarding.
@sledgehammuh:disqus I would argue that "Playing the Angel" is their best output since "Ultra" and that there's very little filler ("Macro" and "Introspectre" could have been left off).
My favourite has to be "Waiting for the Night" but there's a special place in my heart for the vastly underrated (by the band themselves!) "But Not Tonight".
Scottish Third Division. That is all.
I can't get over how much the lead singer of Cut/Copy sounds like the guy from OMD. I'd love to see them cover "If You Leave" or "Electricity".
Nathan Fillion needs to play Nathan Drake. All other acting opportunities need to be on hold until this gets done.
I'd argue the only thing that wasn't wrong with GL was Mark Strong. Who seemingly can do no wrong.
Greg? Who be this Greg you speak of? And Krogans? A Green Lantern/Mass Effect mashup/Greg(?) actually sounds pretty rad, man.
I'll always remember him for taunting the Blue Jays back in the '92 ALCS with an overly inflated fist pump directed towards their dugout after finishing the inning with a strikeout.
The "drippings vit goo" quote is a stone cold classic and is part of my regular daily lexicon.
