@ cappadocious: Agreed, film adaptations very rarely eclipse their written counterpart — I'm sure Hunger Games is no exception. To be honest though, I find it exceedingly annoying when films cannot resonate with a viewer unless they've read the source material.
Do you? I sure didn't. While Battle Royale didn't give much in terms of character development, I felt strangely disconnected with all of the characters in Hunger Games.
