So let me get this straight: it's okay that a young boy was taunted, made fun of and bullied throughout his entire school career and, as a young adult, still feels the affects of the self-described "hell" he's gone through… and we're supposed to ridicule him and roll our eyes?!

@ MyNameIsNoneOfYourGoddamnBusin: I actually felt that way when I first listened to Vitalogy upon its release.  It really seemed that Pearl Jam was trying to pretentiously shed off commerciality.  I mean, really guys?  Is it that bad that a lot of people like to listen to your music?

I actually think it's one of the best damn songs of the 90s and trumps many of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam's own recordings.  Go figure.  Too bad the rest of the TotD album is shite and doesn't reach the heights of "Hunger Strike".

If you prefer an inferior voice, than yes, Paul Di'Anno forever!

Haters gotta hate, yo.

Fantastic post and I couldn't agree more with your sentiments.

There is something to be said about protecting one's culture from becoming completed diluted by various other cultures though, isn't there?

Yeah, God forbid David doesn't play 3 guitars at once!

Slappa da bass!!!!!

Ummm… maybe I'm missing something, but I kind of agree wholeheartedly with Frank here.

I love it.  Ratner uses the word "fags" (which has been, predictably, completely taken out of context) but calling him a "shithead" is perfectly acceptable.  Nice.

On second thought I apologize, "Great work, shithead!" is most definitely not childish and a complete and total over-reaction.
Too much brawn indeed! *aghast*

Sorry, should I have replied to every baby on this forum who spewed forth righteous indignation over Ratner's comment?  Doesn't it give you a rush to feel like part of the collective hive mind of those who take inconsequential, contextually misrepresented situations out of hand?

Would you like a tissue to go with that proclamation?  Grow up.

Totally agree with you.  "The Unforgettable Fire" has always been my favourite U2 album next to "Achtung Baby!".  "Joshua Tree" seems to get a lot of votes as the band's finest but I kind of find that album a bit too slick and polished.  Some of that naive earnestness that was evident on earlier albums (in a charming

Was there and it was awesome!  And with requisite freak snow storm going on that night too.

Some would disagree…
