I spent the weekend in beautiful Columbia, Missouri for the True/False documentary film festival. The whole experience was delightful (I'd love to return and really appreciated being invited) and I saw a fuck-ton of really good movies. Highlights include ONLY THE YOUNG, a really sweet, affecting and gorgeous

I meant to watch THE ARTIST on Saturday night out of a hunch that it might do pretty okay at the Oscars. Instead I stayed in and watched Michael Winterbottom's THE TRIP. For a film with almost nothing in the way of plot—it's essentially a mock-travelogue in which Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon—playing fictionalized

Yeah, it's got a great, if somewhat underutilized supporting cast.

The man does do entertainingly nutso commentaries. Say what you will about the man, he does not hold his tongue or play politics. This column was kind of meant for the likes of him.

Neither is anyone involved with The Onion, as far as I can tell, though I've only been with the company for fifteen years, so his tenure might have pre-dated my own.

It really is just as terrible, misconceived and maudlin as it looks. I'm a little surprise it doesn't have more of a reputation among terrible movie buffs.

Oh, that is adorable!

He was great in SPARTAN. Also great in KISS, KISS BANG BANG. That brought him and Downey Jr. back. One has done just a little better than the other with that comeback in the sense that Downey Jr is now the most popular movie ever while Kilmer makes DTV movies with 50 Cent in Grand Rapids. I too liked him in MACGRUBER

Oh yeah. He was good in that too (and it was a hit). I like Scott in general but things don't seem to be working out for him too well these days.

Never!

He is. He's a goddamned saint, that Patton. God bless him.

We would love to do more of these. Hopefully we'll get a chance.

Oh it's back up in the heezy, baby. Been churning these out for a while. I predict the next one will be the least-read entry to date!

I really appreciate y'alls feedback but I am dying to hear what Billy Crystal thought of the piece. His voice is ultimately the one that really matters. Sorkin certainly isn't alone in feeling that way.

The Jean Doumanian SNL year idea is an awesome one. I might just have to take you up on that one.

Freddy Got Fingered is a masterpiece. This is an embarrassment.

I've kind of come around on GRANDMA'S BOY. It's the kind of movie that sucks you in in spite of your better judgment. I would have much rather have seen a sequel to GRANDMA'S BOY than BUCKY LARSON, believe you me.

At this point, even I'm not sure anymore.

The ad campaign was appropriate in that it conveyed the incredibly inside-joke nature of BUCKY LARSON. Everything in it must have amused Adam Sandler at some point, including that commercial for some reason.

A little over two hours. The man can talk.
