Thanks for directing me to that article. It made a lot of the same points David Denby did in his recent book "Snark" but in a much more succinct and persuasive fashion. I particularly liked the passage: "You can speak, but in a sea of so many words, no one will hear. You can win listeners by writing something worth…
I liked him in "Studio 54". I'd like to see him take more dramatic roles. He was also in a British drama called "Pete's Meteor" that I'll probably get around to covering in Dispatches from Direct To DVD Purgatory someday.
That made me laugh, Snowman. His dad actually died in 1991 so he's been riding the sympathy train a good long while.
To answer your question: yes.
you're not alone.
Thanks, though this really does seems to be the worst-received piece I've ever written for the site.
Hmm, perhaps.
I still got ya mama and ya daddy hollerin, "baybay".
That's a promising but I'd really appreciate it if you could list some more acts I should write about.
I really like Bob Wills. I will definitely be covering him. Incidentally Willie's new Western swing album is a lot of fun and very much inspired by his love of Wills.
Claude, yeah, it was a bit of a weird conceptual piece. I can see why some people just didn't find it funny.
It's a well-known fact that Canadians have barbed penises. I read it on the internet. In this piece in fact. It's a fact!
Stuart is such a weird little movie. It really is more of a psychological drama than a comedy and the supporting cast is filled with heavy dramatic actors.
I'm a big fan of Wayne's World and Wayne's World 2. I think the second one's crazy underrated .
I don't even know anymore.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll definitely have to check that out.
No need to worry. I'll still be doing all my regular features in addition to this. How? By having no personal life. I'm a crafty devil, I am.
that was great. A neat little touch.
Newman seemed to be channeling Radner in the "Mr. Death" sketch so it makes sense that she was the first choice. I am totes looking forward to Palin. I hear he's good with the sketch comedy.
