I believe it was called "Penn and Teller Get Killed". It'd definitely be an interesting curio to revisit, if only because Arthur Penn directed it. And then went back to television. permanently.

That film is so very probably going to get written up here. That's my solemn vow.

Much like Hauser's character
There are two sides to me: the nap-taker and the knitter. Also like Hauser, both sides of my nature are obliged to express themselves on a daily basis. Let's just say y'all should be grateful that none of you have met the knitter so far.

As you might imagine, these pieces ain't hardly never copy-editified, which is why I count on you beautiful people to point out where I done made a fool of myself and whatnot. Also, as has been established, I derive a sick sexual thrill from people complaining about typos, misspellings and grammatical errors online.

It should be noted
that the above image is not, alas, from the show itself. I think it's from some movie she did around the time. "Thieves Like Us" maybe?

Incidentally
I've been pimping "In Your Heart You Know They're Right" as an A.V Club slogan to no avail. It's almost as if semi-obscure Barry Goldwater references have very little cultural currency in this day and age.

It should be noted
that Dupri sleeps with Janet Jackson every night. So he's got that going for him.

Who do you think
Will be the label's first signing? Rage Against The Machine? Billy Bragg? Maybe The Coup or Dead Prez?

Sorry bout that. I was wondering if anyone would even notice, let alone mind. I guess I got my answer. I planned to do it, but when it came time to watch the DVD I was all "Oh shit. I left it at home".

I lived
in Wilmette for a month. It is not, alas, a small mining town outside of Chicago.

Good point. I guess the closest analogue to alt-country in hip hop would be True School hip hop like Jurassic 5, Ugly Duckling, Boom Bap Project and People Under The Stairs, all of whom make a point of fetishizing the Old School. They're classicists pure and simple though their lyrical content differs considerably

Irony?
Another great column, Noel, but don't you find it the least bit ironic that you talk acidly about "outsiders (who) complain about what the Nashville industry should be producing" then make a sweeping generalization about hip hop, a genre you obviously have, at best, mixed feelings about? Aren't you pretty much

Both and neither. Also one, then the other, then the reverse. Hope that clears things up.

For the record I gave that episode a B- .

Steve my man
You are truly going above and beyond for this blog. We appreciate your sacrifices. The sad part is that if I were in Milwaukee I totally would have gone with you to the diamond store. Cause that's just how I get down.

I'm sorry
this is so late. I try to do one of these every months but sometimes I get all crazy with the procrastination and other projects and my nighttime job as a skip tracer. Sorry bout that.

Future A.V Club spoiler
This fucker is getting an F. It's actually way worse than it looks.

I will not use the phrase you object to again. I try to be culturally sensitive but I also have a weakness for old-timey slang that sometimes gets the best of me.

Hey Ethnic Slurry, I was using "Crazy Injun" to convey that the character was an anachronistic caricature like the Magic Negro, not to be racist or offensive. Do you consider the phrase "Magical Negro" horribly racist as well?

I actually read and reviewed the Mr. Mike book for this site before I had any idea what I was doing (this must have been what, ten years ago maybe?). I'm definitely tempted to go back and re-read it.
