This review was exceedingly well-written and argued.

This was a very good review.  For the simple fact that you managed a completely measured response.  Maybe it was just the shellshock, but it was nice to see come critical restraint regarding stuff that hasn't quite played out.

The reason this article can be defined as pretentious is because you have attempted an authoritative voice for a subjective issue.  That is, whether the information available about a particular artist or work is sufficient to render a verdict on something's level of pretentiousness.

Just to preface this, I have been a total apologist for The Office ever since people started complaining about it.  Yet I found myself cringing throughout this episode, and I'm surprised AV Club of all places had a totally shiny view of it.

The sketch with Fred making power tool noises was masterful.

Hey Todd,

So, the ending was so interesting I had to break my oath of avoiding AV Club just so I could see some people react to it.

If you missed it like I did, catch up on Unsupervised.

And you have no business declaring anyone's business.

Step #1: Somewhat erroneously decide that the show creators, who you don't know or speak to, have decided upon a grand theme for their season of television.

Amazing.

Amazing.

The purpose of art is to elicit a reaction.  The purpose of killing an interesting and likable character is the same.  Given this basic truth, it is HILARIOUS to watch you turn your reaction into a criticism.    And the emotional alchemy you're engaged in cheapens the art, as well as your own position as critic.
