But the only person in the house is Sherlock. So unless she has a mad crush on him (which most people seem to agree she doesn't) why is she self-conscious?

I also noticed her wobble in those boot shoes. But not only was there a wobble, she also made a lot of noise walking in those shoes. So much so, that I asked myself for the umpteenth time, "who wears heels like that in the house, when they are just chilling out?"

I noticed straightaway that the writing script was the style taught in the U.S. A person educated in the U.K. would probably be writing in modern italic.

Jeremy Jordan — looks like Chris Pine's younger brother.

Usually the casting for Doctor Who is brilliant, and their track record with kids is very good — e.g. the girl in Rings of Akhaten, little boy in Night Terrors etc. So what is the explanation for the two kids in Nightmare in Silver? Angie was dreadful and Artie, a little better, but I was really freaked out by the

Thank you for your wonderful review Alasdair which I enjoyed even more than the episode. Excellent.

I was thinking about Clyde during this episode too!

So the "crimson horror" was venom, nectar produced by the little parasite? That was sure a lot of liquid for such a tiny guy — and adorable too, poor wee fellow getting mangled by Ada when all it was hoping for was a new host to make friends with.

Now that was a lavishly produced episode. Beautifully dressed sets, lots of extras and excellent acting. More please.

Did anyone get an idea of how long the Doctor was Ada's prisoner? From the relief and gratitude he showed Jenny, I got the impression that the Doctor may have been prisoner for quite some time.

I used to be a big fan of the BBC when I was growing up, but they are deservedly gaining an increasingly trashy reputation for "social engineering," by "historical revisionism". A recent noteworthy example was their decision to cast a black actress as Queen Guinevere in their "Merlin," series.

A "sliver" is only a wee little thing and doesn't sound that much of a criticism. Now if Emma had said that "he has an iceberg in his heart," then that would be a good reason for Clara to disengage immediately!

I am currently going through seasons of Deep Space Nine and am amazed at how lavish the episodes are. It looks great. I am not negative and am a great fan of Doctor Who, but think many of the special effects have been looking like rubbish. The monster in Cold War and his spaceship at the end were dreadful, an 18 year

I don't have many criticisms to make about Doctor Who — just very grateful that its available and currently has Matt Smith as Doctor. However I do have a question that despite going on Google prowls have never been able to get answered. What is the budget for  each episode of Moffat's Doctor Who and what was the

In different episodes its mentioned that it takes time for the translation matrix to "kick in". Which  (I assume) explains the inconsistencies of translation in the alien market regarding Doreen — Clara is a newbie so a connection is slowly being made.

Thought Midnight was brilliant and that was written by RTD. It really is that good.

Excellent remark — you are absolutely correct — thanks.

One thing that confuses me is throughout the story, items are valued for the energy attached to them. But the person to be sacrificed (to Grandfather), is an innocent, young child at the beginning of her life and experiences. Shouldn't the sacrificial person be one that has a multitude of experiences and memories?

I love the noise the leaf made as it slaps into the face of Clara's father. I have rewinded and watched the 'attack of the leaf' a number of times and it cracks me up each time. So funny.

Agree that the overwhelming toxic response to this episode is puzzling. I thought it was charming and enjoyed it very much. Don't understand why serial complainers regularly watch Doctor Who and then leave messages on boards such as this. If its that horrible why torture yourselves watching the program?
