One thing I don't get — in the word game with Madame Vastra - why did Clara's answer "man" inspire confidence in Jenny and Madame Vastra? What did it mean? I get the "pond" answer — but am baffled by Clara's answer "man". Any ideas?

Totally loved this episode. Really like the character of Clara Oswin Oswald but agree with an earlier post in questioning whether the companion has to always be a young female. It would be brilliant to have someone like Strak as companion — and why not — Mr. Potato Head!

I liked the episode but there are two major irritations for me this week. Firstly why didn't the Edelstein character remove the bomb after she had murdered the original target? If she is so expert in making a bomb in the first place, it couldn't have been because she was afraid.

As a woman with a goodly size crush on the Doctor (as played by Matt Smith) have to say that bit in which he is smartening up before leaving the Tardis to meet River, is adorable.

I am delighted that Amy Pond has now left the stage and am looking forward to the breath of fresh air that the new companion will bring to the show.

"Will we love the Matt Smith Doctor minus the ponds?"

I didn't have a problem with Amy offing Madame Kovarian . . . until she started slapping on the Doctor. In actual fact I think Amy is far and above the best female companion of the rebooted series.

Forgot all about Madame Kovarian. That's right yes, Amy did her in. Considering Amy has on her score sheet, one murder, one attempted murder and one threat to murder — she really isn't the appropriate person to be advising pacifism to the Doctor.

For me it was Season 5's "Victory of the Daleks" and Season 6's "The Black Curse." But maybe that's because I am not a big fan of Westerns. But it looked very pretty and Smith gets more fantastic every episode.

Also found it ironic when Amy said, "We don't kill, that's not how we roll," remembering the time she shot at the little girl astronaut (in the Florida warehouse) and also threatened the Doctor with a gun at Demon's run. Talking about Amy, I used to find her much more appealing. I would be happy if River Song and Amy…
