Homer probably drinks every day of the week, as do I. Like me, he only has to take a few sick days a year due to hangovers. Functional alcoholic. Or, at best, problem drinker.
Spoilers?
Are there going to be any? I need verification before I listen.
I've been listening to Carolla quite a bit lately. The ~90 minute runtimes can be a bit much, but the the Dr. Drew appearances make me nostalgic for classic Loveline days.
I am going to miss seeing a constant barrage of The Hobbit and Weezer headlines that I won't click on.
It looks like Maxim: The TV Show, pretty much. Pass.
A-
I released an album of field recordings from my condo. It also got an A- from the AV Club.
That joke is the true legacy of Tron.
The League is pretty funny, and if 30 Rock hadn't bounced back this year I could have seen it in that spot.
I wish this one was still on TV. I gleefully watched it dozens of times as a kid and tried to get my parents to buy one.
My Bloody Valentine
I found this to be highly compatible with my metal-loving self.
Good read.
This is tightly plotted, and the escalating drama builds from a real and believable place. But as stated, the prose is utilitarian and the build is a little slow. Not that it doesn't suit the dreariness and oppressive consequences of covering up the murder.
I actually do think this year has been about as good as S4 Simpsons so far, but I'm a ridiculous fanboy, so maybe I don't need to be listened to.
If it happens it should be due to someone taking a singing class for an easy elective.
It's probably not that much of a coincidence that I really dig this show in one-hour doses, but this felt like the best episode in a year. I think Holly is great, and that helps, but also that there was some narrative drive. Nothing was happening the whole first half of this season. Much like nothing happened last…
That's a sad story. As someone who lost a good job due to a fuckup, I can sympathize. I hate that in some spheres we only get one strike. Sometimes you just blow it, and how good you were at the job can't compensate.
Clunky letter
Coming from a Polish neighborhood in Chicago myself, I wasn't at all surprised by the blunt language in the letter from Abed's mom. She could definitely be a first-generation immigrant without a great grasp of English. I'm probably not much older than Abed would be, and childhood friends of mine…
I do not think that black metal, as a whole, is the least bit sillier than any other genre as a whole. The crappier elements of any genre are bound to be silly. Where black metal works is that the bands that are rooted in that but are innovating are offering a whole lot more than bands that are rooted in any other…
I noticed they doubled up on Modern Family / Cougar Town for the last two hours tonight, but I wasn't aware they were considering having six original shows for the night. Is that what they want to do with this new Matt Perry show(+1)? Or are they going to dump the weakest programs on that night and try a midseason…
Eh, it's fine, but oddly marred by sloppy drumming. I guess either Estrangement or Microcosmos are worth purchase, but not both. The acoustic album is a massive disappointment. The Anti-Urban 10" is surprisingly quality though, and since it can be played at 33 and 45 it has extra value.
