I don't know why they are to be honest, it's not exactly a very long series (37 episodes) and there's nothing truly horrible that demands skipping in there. The whole show's worth it, it's a great ride!

Yes, and I'd say ignore anyone telling you to skip anything, all five seasons are worthwhile and all have great episodes.

Agreed.

Limmy's cameo in The Final Countdown is extremely important.

The problem with The Locket is that it's not quite good enough to get away with its seemingly reset button ending, it never totally hits home like it should. Browder and Black are fantastic, but the rest of it is a wee bit forgettable. I do like how The Choice (which is incredible) in season three gives a sense of

I actually don't mind Taking the Stone, even though it doesn't really work it's still got a few memorable scenes and an amusing Rygel sub-plot. I'd take it over Dream a Little Dream, honestly.

I'm going out with literally the worst men in the world.

Oh yeah, Gatiss does not do subtlety at all, but I thought
that worked nicely with the whole Penny Dreadful Victoriana thing the episode had going. Plus the Doctor in the cell was such a great reveal.

I was surprised by how much I loved this episode, very much
a first for a Gatiss episode for me. Cold War was the first episode of his that
didn't feel horribly self-conscious and frustratingly limp (even if it didn't
bring anything all that new to the table), but this was on another level
entirely - everything that

I was lying then, not before, don't pump me, DON'T PUMP ME!!

Agreed, Throne for a Loss is the first really strong episode of the series for me, there's just so much going on and it all works so well, every sub-plot is memorable and interesting. I like Back and Back… well enough but it's never been a favourite.

That's it, yes! Something about that scene really gets to me - I don't feel bad for Sagan, it's just much more graphic and "real" than a lot of Doctor Who deaths.

Traken is as fairy tale as Doctor Who gets, certainally visually and story-wise, too. I mean, the bit where the Keeper appears in the TARDIS and tells the Doctor and Adric about the Melkurs might as well start with "Once upon a time in the kingdom of Traken…"

Warriors' Gate is absolutely phenomenal and probably unlike anything else I've ever seen. Only Doctor Who could produce something quite like this, so strange and dark and funny and imaginative.

Season 9 really falls down with the mythology episodes, most of which are pretty bad or dull. The standalones are a mixed bag, although John Doe, Audrey Pauley and especially 4-D and Release are really good. I remember Daemonicus, Scary Monsters and Underneath as being fairly solid, but it's been awhile.

I definitely hadn't forgotten it, it really is beyond terrible and genuinely embarrassing to watch, I just hate Fight Club that little bit more.

It was! The most mean-spirited and downright unpleasant (in a bad way) episode the show ever did. I really can't think of any other that was worse.

The problem with season 7 is that it does absolutely have some great episodes in it. The ones you've mentioned are all excellent, as are Orison and X-Cops, and the more traditional MOTW fare like Signs and Wonders, Brand X and Theef. But the bad episodes are so very, very bad, the absolute worst the show has ever done
