I was honestly surprised to see Descendants billed as a comedy at all - in fact I thought it worked much better as a drama.  There were a few funny moments but the story arc, while redemptive (I guess) doesn't really lend itself to many comedic moments.

(Without knowing anything about you) You might just be aging out of the target demographic - for sure that's what happened to me. I just have to remind myself that most straight comedy is pitched to the 13-22 year old male age group, which I decidedly do not fall into. So there may just be humor that's more relevant

The biggest difference I noticed between the two was that while neither was given a whole lot of material to work with - Link at least managed to be convincing with his lines.  One of the worst line readings in the history of film is from the first Matrix movie from Tank - "It's a very exciting time!"  Look it up if

I'm trying to wrap my head around the logical possibility that two mutually contradictory answers can somehow both be correct. Maybe she's the mother of a new system of logic that will transform the world? Maybe she's perfected a quantum computer and is expressing all of her opinions in the form of superimposed

There was a shitload of great music being made in the 80s, but it's none of the garbage that the born-in-the-90s (or later) Youtube commenters are waxing nostalgic for. I can't seem to figure out why they think trash like Duran Duran and Journey is somehow classically brilliant music and validates an entire decade of

@avclub-adb4c903674d579c1a43dbf3ae93f077:disqus I agree with your general characterization of the Bajoran religion - it never really gets across what is so appealing about it (clearly there must be something since the Bajorans are so into it.)  I know Roddenberry was no fan of religion, and the few times it came up in

@Alurin:disqus - good point. I retract my earlier comments, upon further reflection there has been a lot of military exploration.

Well, according to Asimov, at least, unlimited energy just means unlimited waste heat, and then the ability to remove said waste heat from the planet becomes a resource in and of itself.  And around and around we go!

It certainly has many of the elements of a military organization, including the command structure, a mandate to protect the federation, and armed ships. Some form of armament would probably be standard on all interstellar ships though, given the vastness of space and the ease with which pirates would take all of your
